MICHAEL DART

About Me

The band has included a variety of Hall of fame pickers such as guitarist Al Bruno as well as frequent guest players such as steel guitarist JayDee Maness and a variety of other players.Michael Dart is out of Austin, TX . He prefers to integrate Traditional Country Music sounds with a mix of Delta Blues and Western Swing as well as sprinklings of Tin Pan Alley and Swing... He has opened for Merle Haggard, Asleep at The Wheel, David Allan Coe, Freddy Fender and Hot Club of Cowtown........" Michael Dart is crazy. His country obsession rules just about every waking moment, and in the punishing reality of night-to-night club life rewards are few and far between. Whether performing his own sturdy originals or resurrecting Floyd Tillmans "Driving Nails in My Coffin" or Jimmie Rodgers "TB Blues," Dart is impressively involved and dedicated. This dogged perseverance often pays: Dart frequently enjoys sit-in talent of the highest order, welcoming the likes of country guitar genius Al Bruno and the great California steel guitarist JayDee Maness, a former Buckaroo and in-demand session player who nowadays only rarely hits the bandstand. As Maness said recently, "I only play for a lot of money or if its a lot of fun." The latter, as Dart well knows, is exactly where its at." Jonny Whiteside }
