Tatiana's Hope Tatiana Maria Manatu Vaitai just turned 2 this past February 8th. She's a bright, funny, loving and tremendously strong little girl. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) May 16th, 2007. She was in the hospital for nearly 3 months upon diagnosis due to complications brought on by chemotherapy and a compromised immune system. Needless to say, we brought our daughter home August 6th, 2007. She began to receive chemo as an out patient for the next 4 months but to our great sadness, Tatiana relapsed December 20th, 2007.
We are blessed to say that now she is once again in remission! Her doctors unfortunately feel that if we just continue with only chemotherapy, than the Leukemia will come back and may be harder to treat the next time around. Our only option now is to undergo a bone marrow transplant.
Baby Tatiana is of Tongan descent and the donor banks are seriously lacking the reservoir needed to help not only Baby Tatiana, but also any other Polynesian child that may be afflicted with various genetic diseases. Baby Tatiana has a chance and that chance lies within the Asian Pacific Island Community. This is our first attempt to hold a drive, so any advertisement will help us. Please help get the word out. Please help Baby Tatiana.
