A piano, and a voice. That is all Canadian singer/songwriter/pianist Daniel McKenzie needs to grab you. His intensely passionate live performances will strike your soul and leave you wanting more of his powerful hooks, soaring melodies, and compelling lyrics. His soulful blend of classic pop music and acoustic rock gives him a raw, captivating sound all his own.
In the fall of 2006, McKenzie entered the studio to begin recording demos of some new material but the session quickly turned into the pre-production and planning of what would become his debut release. The result was an inspired acoustic record, “Devil In Disguiseâ€, released independently in 2007, that instantly caught the attention of top music industry people and new fans alike.
Following the release of his album, he was invited to take part in songwriting sessions to collaborate on material for the Sony/BMG release by the current Canadian Idol winner, where he worked alongside top producers and songwriters.
McKenzie is not a starving artist; he is a hungry one. Focused and determined to be heard. He found his musical voice the hard way; by trying everything else first and always taking the road less travelled. His music is honest, real, and accessible to both the casual listener and the seasoned musical ear; telling stories of love and loss, joy and pain, and the constant search for personal fulfillment that falls in between. Everybody, male and female, young and old, can relate to the experiences shared in his songs.
Currently, he is planning a solo tour across Canada and the Northeastern United States to promote his album, “Devil In Disguiseâ€, and further build his growing fanbase.
