The music Mark Benedix creates is a better biography than any one page detailing the events in his life could ever be, but for those of you who would like a (somewhat) more straightforward account, read on... Born in upstate New York and raised in Florida, there has been one constant in a life full of transience of both place and people, expression through art. His music is influenced by the world at large, by current friends and those dearly missed (Craig Posner, you are still with us), by family, and by the farsighted and idealistic avatars of music itself, The Beatles. Certainly there are other influences as well. Listen carefully and you will hear them, or perhaps you will hear what has influenced you instead. Art is symbiotic- its as much about the artists statement as it is what each individual takes from it.Marks inspiration has been found in the sparkle of wonder in his little girls eyes, and the love of life, hardships, victories, and even an amphibian. Dont ask about that last part, youre better off not knowing. This eclectic mix of frog and friend, influence and inspiration, creativity and ideals led to the occasionally painful birth of many incarnations of expression: Thompson HunterS, Uncle Flo, Frogg, and, in what can only be called pure genius in nomenclature for its daring simplicity- Benedix.Mark has had the good fortune to play with numerous talented musicians: his dad (Al Bartholomew), Chubby Checker, Greg Allman, Fats Domino, Little Richard, and Buddy Miles, just to name a few. He has toured extensively, most recently in the UK, but always comes back home to Florida (does this guy love his family or what?).Recently sold to Belletone Records UK, and back in the studio, these days Mark is doing what he loves most- writing music, Producing, playing for his fans, looking for new artists, and spending time with his family. So now you know more about Mark. Sure, this may be a Bio in name only- light on facts and heavy on transcendental nonsense, but isnt that life itself? Put on Half Popped and ponder that for a while, it may just open up your eyes. ;) Written by DTS 25 August 2005
