For Our Hearts

About Me

This page is dedicated to the progression of the glamrock masterpiece "For Our Hearts." It shows the time line of the song and the progression and people who made it work. The first recording was done at the beginning of 2006 with Joe Rizzi at Low Cut Studios. The song was in it's beginning. It was 7:37 long but it had a lot of fans. The people who encouraged the song the most were Steve E Nix from The Briefs, Jason from Avenue Rose, Bopper from River City Rebels, and Kix from The Briefs. This very loose, very raw version of For Our Hearts was what made Steve E Nix ask to record us the first time. So we went to Steve's studio in the middle of 2006 and recorded the song, speeding it up a little and taking out many solos, a chorus, and dead palm muting parts. We added a xylophone to the end (something that Josh from Full Breach Kicks complimented us about), changed the backing vocals. We still continued to work on the structure of the song taking out another chorus and picking up the speed a little more. After the next version came out, there was a lot of interest in this song, particularly from GUITAR DOUG (who writes for THE SINNER). But everyone thought it could still be better. We recorded For Our Hearts again, this time using some of the tricks that Steve had taught us (the clapping) and even adding some extra guitar parts. We did this with Joe Rizzi in the beginning of 2007 at Low Cut Studios to put on our album "For A Good Time, Call...". Being unhappy with the tightness and strength of the song from previous recordings, we decided to go again with Steve and get a solid professional recording. We went back to record with Johnny Sangster (who's recorded Mudhoney, Supersuckers, The Cute Lepers) and Steve E Nix. This is the newest recording. We have slowed it back down, something Steve and us just sounds and feels better. We also have worked on the dynamics of backing vocals/harmonies. We still got the xylophone goin though!!! It is the embodiement of all the the past things we've learned since recording this song and we are very proud of it. This page is for the fans of FOR OUR HEARTS!!
"For Our Hearts is my favorite love song from anywhere this year. It rules. If Mark Bolan had released it as a single it would have sold a hundred thousand copies."
-Steve E. Nix (The Briefs)
"The song "for our hearts" has the potential to be a major single. Its a hit song waiting to happen. I only wish I have written the fucking thing. I would be rich. It's exactly how you put together a single for radio play. I personally would love to do a cover of this song in my own style."
