Saffron was formed in 2007 when Evan Glesener came back from a backpacking trip through Japan. Combining his songwriting with long-time musical influence Justin Phillips and roommates Matt Fitch and Matt Martin at the end of that summer created the four piece core of the band Saffron. Recording in the carpeted garage of Evan's Avalon Street house in San Luis Obispo, the band created a lush, textured pop sound. Nolan Perry, former guitarist of San Luis Obispo-based band Elle Moss, added his electric guitar skills to Saffron in early June and other instrumentalists have joined the band for shows to bring this simultaneously energetic and thoughtful sound to a live audience.
