Music:
I love hip-hop, mostly alternative hip-hop, battle-rap, and the intellectual
hip-hop (yes, there is such a thing). I love good lyrics; anything that makes
me think, makes me feel, makes me relate, or just makes me rewind the song and
grab a dictionary. I'll listen to anything with a good beat though.
Here's the short list of my favorites. Some of the names you
don't recognize might be worth checking out :).

R&B, some jazz, some oldies, and I love 80's music haha. Yeah, I like Paula
Abdul, Heart, Foreigner, Enya haha. Did you see that one coming? ;) I also like Poe,
some No Doubt, Evanescence. I even like some country. I don't really like heavy "goth"
rock or "industrial" rock or that kinda stuff, but even then there's
exceptions.
Movies:
Life is Beautiful, Hotel Rwanda, The Life of David Gale, Everything is Illuminated, The Princess Bride, The Notebook, Gladiator, A Perfect World, The Last Sammurai, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Pulp Fiction, Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling For Columbine, The Four Feathers, Carlito's Way, About a Boy, My Cousin Vinny, Troy, Playing God, Snatch, Brave Heart, Three Kings, Out of Sight, Ong Bak: Thai Warrior, Lord of War, Jaws, Alien, Aliens, Terminator, Predator, Hero, Original Sin, Band Of Brothers, Enemy At the Gates, The Birdcage, Tremors, Lawrence of Arabia, Crimson Tide, Last of The Mohicans, Ghostdog: Way of the Sammurai, Robocop, The Emperor & the Assassin, Starship Troopers, Broken Arrow, The Seige, 28 Grams, The Ghost and The Darkness, Jackie Brown, Resevoir Dogs, All Quinton Tarintino Movies, All The Indiana Jones Movies, All The Star Wars movies, A Bronx Tale, Outbreak, 8 Mile, Sleepless in Seatle....
I like either war movies, historical dramas, dramas, comedies of all kinds (romantic comedies included), action movies, and yes so-called "chick flicks" too (good ones, just not the stupid highschoolish ones). But what I really love is a movie with either a great story/story telling (tarintino!), great/witty diologue and/or humor, great characters, or either a deeper message/theme or some powerful emotions behind it. Movies with some sort of great irony to them or some form of meaning behind them also always appeal to me. Im also up for foreign films subtitles or not. The only kinda movies I dont like that much genre-wise are horror and "teen movies".
Television:
Currently addicted to:
Rome , Jericho , Real Time with Bill Maher
Also:
The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, PBS, History Channel, Chappelle's Show, Seinfeld, Friends, The King Of Queens, Sex and The City (haha, I love that show!), All in The Family, The Jeffersons, The Wayans Bros, Discovery Channel, TLC, Who's Line Is It Anyway?, The News (BBC World, ABC, CNN, Anything but FOX), That 70's Show, Food Network (really lol), Frasier, Roseanne, Family Guy, Nick At Night (gotta love the classics), Comedy Central Presents...
I watch a lot of documentaries. Probably about 80% of the time my TV is either on History Channel, PBS, Military Channel or one of those. I like history and science documentaries, and some nature ones as well. The rest of the time it's either on The News or a Sitcom. That, or a movie. So basically it's either something to make me think, or something to make me laugh. Or both. I fuckin HATE reality shows, and talk shows. And I also HATE lifetime! Except when Golden Girls is on! I love that show, me and my mom used to watch it all the time when I was growing up :)

Dr. Seuss Books!!
What can I say? I read for knowledge. I mostly read non-fiction (mostly
unlisted). I'm not one for sitting down and reading a novel, but I love to read
text books, how-to books, classic works that have some larger theme/messagem and factual books. I
mostly read stuff that has to do with history, technology, science, philosophy,
poetry, culture, religion/theology, politics, ideas, or facts (encyclopedias and historical almanacs). In other words: the stuff most people have to read for school is the stuff I like to read for pleasure.
Heroes:
Albert Einstein
- Because I think he was a good and decent man, and I find him to be as brilliant a philosopher and observer of society as he was a physicist. I love to read his writing, and I always find him insightful and enlightening whenever I do. I relate to him both on an emotional as well as an intellectual level. He was an amazing man. If you'd like to read some of his stuff, look at my favorite book list, or check out my blog titled "The World As I See It" back in Aug 2005.
Mahatma Gandhi
- Because he was the epitome of all that is good about human kind. He lived a life full of compassion and concern for his fellow man, and sacrificed in ways that most of us (me included) would never sacrifice. And he made a difference. I also happen to relate very heavily with Gandhi’s religious views. Gandhi was a Hindu, but held many of his own interpretations about the nature of God and the universe. He once said "For me there is no other God than Truth; Truth is God" and that he believed that "God is the sum total of all life". I believe that, and those ideas shape much of my personal spirituality and beliefs. There are two other Gandhi quotes which guide my life and my own personal morality. The first is: "You must BE the change you wish to see in the world"; and the
second is: "Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony". A Few more gems from Gandhi:
"Forgiveness is the quality of the brave, not of the cowardly."
"Love is no love which asks for a return."
"The beauty of poetry is that the creation transcends the poet."
Napoleon Bonaparte
- I'm a big fan of history, global studies, and social studies, particularly military history. Napoleon is one of my favorite characters in history. I think he is simply one of the most complex and fascinating personalities in all human history. He was so many different things to so many different people. He was a genius and yet a fool. I don't so much idolize him as I merely relate to him in an odd sort of way. His love affair with Josephine, his rise and fall, and his melancholic personality and internal contradictions.
My Mom
- For raising me as a single mother, and being a loyal and supportive friend to me my whole life. For struggling as she did through the years in a life that wasn’t always neither convenient nor kind. The only person I’ve ever truly been able to count on.
A number of fictional characters from movies and books. If you want to know, ask ;)
