music, movies, reading, ip law, politics, random worthless facts, etc.
brilliant people...people with good taste in music/books/movies...people with biting, sarcastic wit...people who possess none of these qualities, but appreciate those who do, or who strive to be brilliant, sarcastic and culturally literate...
anything droning dully in the background that i can ignore...generally old indie rock/pop and britpop, dnb, jazz, downtempo, and a bit of old/intelligent/indie hip hop...
i watch a lot of them, and i have a ridiculous dvd collection, though not quite as ridiculous as it was before i sold half of it prior to moving to dc...
i have no cable...so pretty much all i see is an occassional series on dvd...at the moment it's homicide: life on the street, but Extras & some Adult Swim are in the netflix queue...
i dont have nearly enough free time to read as much as i'd like...and i tend to bounce between several different books at a time, so it takes me forever to finish anything...currently in rotation: you shall know our velocity (dave eggers); only revolutions (mark z. danielewski); the dead emcee scrolls (saul williams); our posthuman future (francis fukuyama); the broom of the system (david foster wallace); a model world and other stories (michael chabon); code (lawrence lessig); liberation biology (ronald bailey)recently finished: cosmopolis (don delillo); consider the lobster (david foster wallace)books everyone should read: how to lose friends and alienate people (toby young) --quite possibly the funniest book i've ever readhigh fidelity (nick hornby)& the subterraneans (jack kerouac) --particularly useful for the ladies, as both provide wonderful insights into how insane us guys tend to be,a heartbreaking work of staggering genius (dave eggers) --it really is as good as everyone has told you...U.S.! (chris bachelder) --upton sinclair repeatedly resurrected and assassinated...and it's a comedy...house of leaves (mark z. danielewski) --i can honestly say i've never read anything quite like it...and pretty much anything by david foster wallace --though i prefer his non-fiction/essays...
