Rosebuddy

About Me

After an earlier version of the group disbanded, Rosebuddy reformed with original member Neil Briffett (guitar/vocals) joining Kris Poll (bass/vocals) and James Misata (drums/vocals). They released the Viewers Like You EP in 1998 on Montréal's Wongerground label, and then in 2000 the Issues EP was released with No Records of Halifax. Then they went into the studio for a VERY long time. The Scent and the Sound/Last Band Standing single was released in the fall of 2003.
Their latest CD Settle for Silver (2005) builds upon Rosebuddy's melodic essence, with 13 dynamic, soulful, sometimes jarring, hook-based songs of love found, love lost, and love misplaced.
Rosebuddy (along with new keyboardist Steve Robillard) are currently (2008-2009) working on material for their next record, tentatively titled The Next Depression or Forward-Looking Statements (we're still deciding, y'know...).
“Settle for Silver is their most considered, best realized album so far...the band comes off like it just shot itself up with confidence, and by playing with different tempos and touch they've diluted the same same-iness that always seems to be an unwelcome by-product of this genre of song making” ~ HOUR
“The compact, Replacements-esque songs are more melody-driven than ever...The songs with the subtle shadings are most satisfying...crunching guitars and short, sharp choruses” ~ MONTREAL GAZETTE
