Fishermans Mission (Album Soon)

About Me

Right. Band bio. How's this done again? Oh, that's right...

Fisherman's Mission are a 5 piece supergroup, made up of individuals known for their musical pedigree.

Luke plays the drums. It has often been said that when Luke hits the drums, the noise produced is enough to flatten mountains. In fact, Fisherman's Mission are banned from playing in Nepal for this very reason. When Luke was 5, he grew an extra arm which is why he's able to play such versatile beats. After several years as a circus performer, he met Rob Brown, who bought him for 5 shillings to play in his band.

Rob Brown, who plays 347 instruments for Fisherman's Mission, began his musical career writing ditties for radio adverts. After amassing 5 shillings, he bought a mountain shattering circus performer drummer and formed the band 'Anandimide'. After a few shows, 'Bono' from U2 kept calling them and asking to be in their band. Thinking of nothing they would want less, they disappeared underground not to be heard of again for several years. When they suspected that Bono was busy telling people less well off than himself to give away their money, they reappeared again, this time with Rob's conjoined twin Scott in on the game as well.

Scott and Rob Brown were surgically separated after a disagreement regarding a game of cards erupted into a violent frenzy. After having a robot arm attached (as they shared two arms originally) Scott took up the guitar, and after several weeks had mastered all Led Zeppelin tracks, dismissing them as "Far too easy". Jimmy Page himself is said to be "extremely jealous" of this feat. After buying himself a Telecaster, he taught himself how to sing so hard that on their first show, he accidently melted the faces of the first two rows. After a hefty lawsuit, they agreed to rope in more members to 'soften' their sound.

The first person brought in was a hermit called NJ. NJ had inherited his bass playing skills, he claims, from a voodoo mantra as a child. Often referred to in Jazz circles as 'Sweet Fingered Joslin' due to his ability to play 3 songs at once, NJ was a perfect choice to play bass with the new band. Voted by 'Groupie' magazine as 'The Best Looking and Clearly Most Talented Bass Player' 2 years in a row, he is one of the most recognised faces in the bass world.

Lastly, in order to prevent Scott from overpowering his robotic arm, they needed another guitar player to relieve the stress caused by Page envying. For this they acquired Phil, who had been wandering the south coast armed only with an acoustic guitar and a dead cat. After playing a show in Totnes, where his guitar playing skills wowed the crowd and the the band, Scott, Rob, Luke and NJ payed for the burial of his dead cat so he was free to join. On their first gig together, Phil played his guitar with such ferocity and skill that it actually ignited the neck, impressing the crowd with his ability to play with his hand literally on fire.

Fisherman's Mission was born. Critics and onlookers have been constantly amazed with the band's output; shattering spines and nerves with their addictive electro infused hooks and stylings. As a bloke called Colin once said to me in the pub one day, "This is the best band I have EVER seen. And I should know; I've seen Wings."

Sounds Like: "Support comes from Plymouth upstarts Fishermans Mission, who played for the very first time just a couple of weeks ago and completely blew everyone away with their electronica-fused spiky progressive rock. They have an excellent pedigree, being ex-members/members of Rebuild The Doxa and Head Of Programmes."
Evening Herald, June 08

"Plymouth newbies, Fishermans Mission, were a promising prospect of indie-lectro twiddles and melodic muscle, although a flat sound did little to accenturate the band's restless dynamics."
24/7 Magazine, Nov 08
"Fishermans Mission proved themselves worthy with electronica-embellished, triple-guitar indie-rock that fitted, at will, between epic and idiosyncratic. Good call."
24/7 Magazine, Apr 09
"Swan Breaks Arm".
