He closed his eyes. The path to other realms had always been caliginous and obscured somehow, in a way that affected its destinations. Ether's Gates kept all of that out, though spared Earth and Abattoir little. But once Tsais and Ava's power hit him, it all ended.
So he closed his eyes.
His hand sealed tighter around Lycorias't's. The stiff pulled him further still into abyss, and it invited him welcomingly.
He felt warm.
He wanted to open his eyes and see what level of darkness touched his skin; his lips parted. Something touched them. He wanted to open his eyes. Firm, and hot. His mouth opened wider. It crawled in, suffocated him, wrung the blood and air from his body, and he choked.
He squeezed Lycorias't's hand. It hadn't been like this before. The darkness tasted metallic. He wanted to open his eyes. He wanted . . .
He felt so warm.
