About Me

a.k.a The Colorado Legend, has been involved in the Hip Hop music business since the early-80's. He went from B-Boying with Colorado’s most successful group D&S Connection (2 Time City & State Champs)to becoming a well respected Dj, Producer and Business man who has been an inspiration to most successful Colorado Dj's and Artists. Being given the name Fame back in 1984 personifies what the future would hold in his life. He has been the driving force in many Denver groups careers including the Arapahoe Trues, Gloc 9, G.SO.M and others as well as being the founding member of the group that he is most recognized for, DEUCE MOB, Colorado's first Rap Group to sign a recording contract back in 1993 with Thump/Universal.
Fame has also worked with Several Multi Platinum artists either as a Producer, Artist or concert promoter, the list includes: Devin The Dude, Tech N9ne, Westside Connection, Mr. Capone E, Tone Tony Toni, Chingo Bling, Kid Frost, LSOB, as well as the Super Freak himself Rick James, Fame and his company promoted the last concert Rick James ever did back in 1998 in Denver, Rick James had his stroke during this performance.
DEUCE MOB took off in 1990 with the original 12" hit, "I Got The Boom & Lookin’ Down The Front Of A Barrel”. The success of this single gave Fame, the momentum needed to get the recognition of the "right people", and the response of the fans showed there was a demand for this sound comin' out of D-Town. This led to opportunities to open up for such acts as, Queen Latifah, Kid Frost, Tribe called Quest, D.j Quik and others.
The wide spread circulation of the single landed in the hands of John Martinez of Hayward CA. a Bay Area record promoter. Martinez stepped up and laid down the money for the first Deuce Mob full-length album "Going Solo".
"I basically had all the tracks done for the album, we brought in musicians to replay what I already had, then me and Frost vibed together and added what we thought each track needed."
David Cochrane, (producer / writer for such acts as The Commodores, Lionel Richie, Paula Abdul), and producer G.L.E (Paperboy / The Ditty), lent there musical talents, as well as other L.A. and Denver based rappers, musicians and singers. Upon completion of the project, the album was shopped, several labels showed interest, including Thump Records, Martinez at the time thought the deal with Thump would be the best move for the group, since being tied to Lowrider Magazine, they would also offer touring on a International level and distribution on a worldwide level.Although the deal with Thump didn't stay as fresh as it had in the beginning, and the sudden drop of the lead rapper, due to several chemical dependencies and unprofessional habits, D.j. Fame was on to new adventures once again. By this time Fame had been through much adversity and this new dilemma was just yet another piece to the puzzle."I look at it as a learning experience, It was a stepping stone, it showed me and taught me more about the game". Most people aren’t made to be in this biz, you would be surprised with all the bullshit you go through.
Separation from the label brought Fame, to only one conclusion. Independently Owned and Operated. The key to success was to have everything in-house, from production to recording, to the designing and packaging. The only thing out of house would be the manufacturing and distribution. These would be the key ingredients to the formation of Concrete Poetry Records, "The Midwest's Leading Independent Rap Label."
Be sure to keep an ear out for the new singles "Year Round Hustle" and Bubble Gum" scheduled to hit radio stations spring or Summer of 2009.
Deuce Mob is also scheduling tour dates in support of the new CD
