The group was founded in 2000 by three musicians: Alexander Arsen’ev, Aleksey "Miksher" and Yuri Shmyrov. In the beginning the group performed the traditional columbian music (cumbia) and songs of known latinoamerican performers (son cubano, salsa, merengue).
The first concerto took place in the club "Moloko", Saint-Petersburg in November 2000. In September 2000 staff of the group was added brass section. In this time Sever Combo begins to write the songs of the own composition in Russian language, founded on afro-cuban roots. The original program formed in two years and nearly completely displaced cover-versions. By then, the staff of Sever Combo was got some changing, in particular, drums were added.
The group gave the series of concerts in clubs and halls in Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Perm’ and in other cities and towns of Russia. The modern staff formed in 2005, with which group has released the first album in 2007. The best tracks of 2003-2007 served as material for the album. With incoming of new musicians in arrangements of songs was marked influence of funk and disco. At present, the Sever Combo works for new program.
