"DAMON LEE one of the West Coast's hottest young bass players and a first call session player among artists and studios...""I've watched Damon on the scene for years and whether it's Upright or Electric Salsa/Jazz/Rock or Reggae This kid always seems to lay down just the right groove .We meet outside the Belagio hotel in vegas where he has just completed the 2nd performance of the day with Cirque Du Soliel for the show known siply as O. i say to him that was amazing the music is really good. he says you havent seen it as many times as i have but yes its still alot of fun. Next we discuss his teacher the late Herbie Lewis i tell him i was a huge fan of the work he did w Mcoy Tyner and Freddie Hubbard he replies me to! [My teacher the late great Herbie Lewis always said to me the bass should be felt not heard although the rebel in me wants to be heard sometimes i always really understood what he meant when applied to the bass. he was such a good teacher he had a way of cutting through the technician stuff a.k.a B.S. and getting to the actual music and what really was cool is we became friends and i learned alot from him as a person.] Yes, Damon has the chops, but unlike some he knows when to use them.Although when talking with him hed rather talk about GOLF and more GOLF ! instead of music but i cant blame him as i know his music schedule and its a breakneck pace of gigs and side gigs . I expect a bright future for this young man, and may I also add a talented Dj and Producer Take a listen to his new project, Dub Soldier.
