After hearing and seeing the plight of some local musicians, we believe that a jazz musician is truly a career with minimal monetary rewards,if any, unless of course you are a major label recording artist. Musicians tend to live on the shear joy of playing. A few coffers are occasionally thrown in the "tip jar" so to speak. The goal of this page is to assist musicians in locating others, kindred spirits if you will, and to help promote their gigs. While the name NEW YORK JAZZ is "regional", we hope to make this international. How this all came about was a desire to see the copyright laws enforced, and to hope the individual artists receive their fair share. Unfortunately, our study indicates that many artists have given their heart and soul over the years with little or no financial rewards. Music labels pop up all over the world "stealing" their music and leaving the musicians or their "estates" with nothing.Having no or very little income equals the unfortunate consequences of not having proper health care or insurance. So this site will be a clearing house for information also, hopefully, via the "BULLETIN BOARD" sections, and blogs. So join us, please, by offering advice as well as promoting your own gigs. With your permission we would like to draw a few photos to add to our banner. In advance....Thanks.
