Poet, Recording Artist, Journalist, Author, Songwriter and successful Business Man dePOET Dennis DeLoach AKA dePOET Dennis is a sincere, amiable man determined to sidestep the inevitable obstacles in his quest to be, at once, recognized, respected and rewarded for his creative endeavors, like many black writers he was ghetto child born in the slums of Pittsburg, California in April, 1951. Even as a kid, self-expression was important to him, though it often led to many lashes on the bottom by a mother who seemed to have no reservations about giving them. dePOET has two sisters and two brothers who reside in Oakland, California, where he too spent much of his life. He graduated from Oakland Technical high and attended Laney College briefly before moving to Los Angeles in 1973. Graduating with honors from Los Angeles Southwest College in 1977 was another of his learn all I Can steps into a promising future. dePOET first book, SOULWORD, a black-oriented crossword puzzle book, is a fine example of his ingenuity, simplicity, and unquestionable relativity-and he is destined to capture the eyes and ears of his contemporaries in the formidable journey from obscurity to literary distinction. Currently dePoet is captivating audiences at venues in Los Angeles and the Bay Area and he has just completed his first CD which is Spoken Word over Smooth Soul Music. The CD is features dePOETS creation Spoems (a song and combined with a poem).
