Influences: As a child, Neal listened to a considerable amount of American music, and one of his early influences was the Hollywood singer, Elvis, after moving to England, Century became a fan of Sting, John Lennon and The Beatles.
Neal said of Lennon: “John Lennon is very important. He’s my idol. He sort of God to me. There’s no way you can compare him. You either have the magic or you don’t. There’s no way you can work up to it. There’s nobody who can take his place."
Another of Century’s favorite performers was singer Sting.
In a 2002 interview, he says of him: “Sting, in terms of art is "the talent", just perfect. He is energy and stamina, which he gets across the music he does, and the way he delivers himself to the public is a good influence. There is a lot to learn from him.â€
“I'm a rock singer. I'm a singer. I'm nothing more than that. I'm not even the best singer of my band. I'm not a philosopher. So, don't look for answers from me. I don't believe in nothing more than me. I don't believe in Love or Gods. I've only got a couple of friends."

About his own music he says:
"I don't know, I write 'em, and leave'em. If you asked me to play some of my older songs on the piano, I couldn't. I forget them, I learnt them for the time. I have to go in a day earlier and try to work out all the chords to my own songs. I forget them very quickly. I totally forget the original and if you asked me to play that now, I couldn't. Sometimes, I have to go back to the music sheet, and I can't read that well either!"
