EARLY YEARSMaurice Yandiorio (born October 10, 1982 in Milan, Italy), better known as Neal Century (and often nicknamed the Nearly Shout), is a musician and songwriter. He is best known for his work in the rock band Work as their lead singer and pianist.
Neal is a prolific artist, having released several hundred songs both under his own name and with other artists. Well known as a perfectionist, he is highly protective of his music. He produces, composes, arranges and performs nearly all of the songs on his albums.
In 2002 Neal got a high spot at the International Song Festivals, playing Queen’s songs, Blues and Old Rock with his brand new "Stop'n'Go Band", a three-piece: Neal Century piano, guitar and vocal, Brodie Scalon bass guitar and Voodoo Phil on the drums. A fourth member joined the band but only during that gig.
Around the end of 2002, Dan and Neal began writing songs together exclusively. The “Stop & Go” played very few concerts in 2002-2003, and released no music at all. Neal was instead writing songs and altering the musical style of a brand-new band Work, along with his own image.
He played approximately 200 live performances during his career with Stop&Go with roughly two-thirds during the first years. His early performances were essentially hard rock, often heavy metal, but Neal and Work later developed a more pop rock sound as the years went by.
Neal Century dressed in an overtly flamboyant, thespian manner and acted with great camp and extravagance while dry ice and banks of colourful lights were used with considerable effect. During the concerts, it was typical for everyone to have impromptu, instrumental interludes.
Only on very rare occasions did Work allow a non-member to perform, or even appear, on stage with them.
The band's logo, which was designed by Century was usually displayed on the front of the bass drum during their tours. Some stage costumes worn by Century on his tours and a few subsequent tours were created by fashion designers.

Influences: As a child, Neal listened to a considerable amount of American music, and one of his early influences was the Hollywood singer, Elvis, after moving to England, Century became a fan of Sting, John Lennon and The Beatles.

Neal said of Lennon: “John Lennon is very important. He’s my idol. He sort of God to me. There’s no way you can compare him. You either have the magic or you don’t. There’s no way you can work up to it. There’s nobody who can take his place."

Another of Century’s favorite performers was singer Sting.

In a 2002 interview, he says of him: “Sting, in terms of art is "the talent", just perfect. He is energy and stamina, which he gets across the music he does, and the way he delivers himself to the public is a good influence. There is a lot to learn from him.”

“I'm a rock singer. I'm a singer. I'm nothing more than that. I'm not even the best singer of my band. I'm not a philosopher. So, don't look for answers from me. I don't believe in nothing more than me. I don't believe in Love or Gods. I've only got a couple of friends."

About his own music he says:

"I don't know, I write 'em, and leave'em. If you asked me to play some of my older songs on the piano, I couldn't. I forget them, I learnt them for the time. I have to go in a day earlier and try to work out all the chords to my own songs. I forget them very quickly. I totally forget the original and if you asked me to play that now, I couldn't. Sometimes, I have to go back to the music sheet, and I can't read that well either!"

Record Label: none at the moment
