About Me

Hi, my name is Tim Skone, welcome to the Skone Project. I am a guitar player and a music lover. I studied music at the U of M back in the late eighties, and I graduated from the performance guitar program at Music Tech Institute of Minnesota in 1996. I've played with a couple of local groups since then, and have recently invested more time in writing my own stuff. A couple of years ago, I built my own synth guitar, the one you see up in the corner there, and I've been using it to find new ways to express myself musically. Almost everything you hear on these tracks is synth guitar. I also play electric and acoustic on them. My stuff is kind of a strange combination of hard rock, jazz and funk, or as I like to call it...Hard Junk. All these tracks are the result of running a Roland GR-1 and or Boss GT-5 directly into a Soundblaster Audigy sound card. The songs were recorded using Turtle Beach recording software. Thanks for listening.

Autotune

This effect has always bothered me since it became popular in dance and hip hop music. It seems like cheating to me. You don't have to know how to sing because a machine will correct your pitch. Then ...
