About Me

Born in Kinston, North Carolina during the late seventies, Clarence has always been a music connoisseur. From the Blues to Jazz the south has always been rich in sweet soulful music. It was around the age of 6 when his parents began to send him to stay with his Grandmother for the summer in New York. There in the bowels of Brooklyn he fell in love with Hip-Hop. Daily tracking across the park from Farragut to Fort Greene he tuned into the rhythm, and absorbed the ambience. Summer after summer Clarence (by this time known as Chi-Blow) learned from his cousins and other Brooklyn MC’s to turn life into art by putting pen to paper. By the young age of 16 Chi-Blow was signed to a NY management company and performing in local NC nightclubs. At 17, after a rocky road trying to penetrate the music industry, mismanagement, and a lack of unity in Carolina, Clarence put down the pen and the microphone. With the decision to put Rap on the backburner he moved to the Nation’s Capitol to pursue a career in sales and further his martial arts studies. For 10 years Clarence found success in DC, but the desire to heal the now lyrically dieing Hip-Hop was growing. DC was alive with soul singers and spoken word artist but the dopest MC’s seemed to be stuck in the 90’s Mafioso period. On top of that being in his late twenties, Clarence couldn’t justify rhyming about adolescent activities or coming up with the latest snap dance. Though the lack of unity still remained, relocating back to NC provided the slow-paced tranquility to crank out the meaningful lyrical content that the game’s been missing.Introducing one of the most prolific poets to bless the mic since Rakim. His flow delivers the return of soul, the revival of lyrics, the rebirth of cool. No ringtone songs, no bubblegum snack rap, this is grown folk music, this ...... is Hip-Hop. -BLOW
