About Me

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx GERRY JOE WEISE - Hoochie Coochie Man
xxxxxxxxxxxx CALL FOR MUSICIANS (April 20, 2009): Can you play a painting? You can paint music, for sure... Why? It's all emotion! I am looking for musicians, to work together with to explore the potentials of music-art 'translations'. For more info, please send me a message. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx FOR ALL OF YOU WHO REMEMBER VOODOO:Voodoo and her friends were sitting under a Japanese cherry tree, while talking: ‘why do you keep wasting canvas and paint painting the same ugly picture over and over again?’ ‘Because it still hurts!’ ‘It’s just because you refuse to deal with the pain!’ ‘Deal, huh? It’s the pain of disappointment. The pain of unfulfilled love. The pain of misunderstandings, fights and crying. It’s human pain. You can’t deal with it. It just is. It’s the pain of knowing things, and not being able to tell. It’s the prophet’s pain, the crazy witch in the woods’ pain. Lucky you, if you found your twin and can be together!’ ‘”If you can’t be with the one you love, just love the ones you’re with” remember?’ ‘Yeah, but the pain inside still lingers. Just because you made it big, doesn’t mean you’re fine. You power up, you give love, you get love – People tell me now-a-days, I am looking great. And yeah, I do feel great! - I guess I do. But, see, it’s about that deep, once-in-the-world connection!’ ‘You’re dreaming! It’s driving you crazy. You’re chasing the wind!’ ‘That’s easy for you to say. It's about the belief in a promise' ‘But it’s driving you insane!’ ‘I guess, you’re right – relatively crazy...’ XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ABOUT THE SLIDER ABOVE: Let me try to explain... What would your inner world look like as shape and color, if you have e.g. to go to war, or when you have your first big and important gig? And what would it look like, just after. If it went well, the picture would obviously look different, as when you know, you screwed it up... The series on the slider is part of a research project, which is trying to shed some light on the connection between abstract shapes and color and its translation into a state of mind or 'emotion'. If you look at the pictures on the slider, you might be able to 'translate' them into a story, or I should better say, into a connected series of what happens in a person's inner world. I would like to collect some 'stories'. Maybe you can take some time and give it a shot? There is no wrong or right. Feel free to interpret the series, as you see it fit with the paintings. If you send me a message with your story I would have material to work with for our 'online' part. Please don't forget to add your age and cultural background, possibly profession. I would like cross-reference the data for cross-cultural consistencies. Will put some stories on this site, after the project is over, so you can read them, too, if you don't mind. I thought it would be quite cool to maybe find, that someone from one side of the world would read color and shape quite similar to you. After all, shape and color, are like music, much older forms of communication then the spoken word is... XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I am a German artist, having lived and worked for 10 years in Detroit. My work includes a book of pen and ink drawings of historical sites of the city - restored to show it's potential architectural beauty, also featuring entertaining and odd facts you might not have known about the sites. If you happen to go to the Renaissance Center, GM's World Headquarters, you can see them from the Wintergarden (looking up to the next floor).
