The Knox

About Me

The Knox was once a vocalist and songwriter for a Birmingham funk rock four-piece. Whilst penning songs for the band, he secretly wrote many songs for his ‘country’ alter ego - The Knox, who is influenced by Classic singer songwriters like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Paul Simon
The Knox has been performing in venues across London, including The 12 Bar, The Green Note Café, Cargo and The Hope and Anchor. He is also a regular on the West London acoustic circuit. He has recorded one EP, Lights on the Motorway and he is currently working on his next EP, Dreaming to the Sound of Cars, though he has yet to get his driving licence and has no interest in cars themselves.

My CD, "Lights on the Motorway" has 9 pretty songs and a pretty picture of me looking typically bedraggled. If you see me ask me:

Influences: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor,Paul Simon, Ryan Adams, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Counting Crows, The Black Crowes, Don Mclean, Kelly Jo Phelps, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clarke, REM, Tracy Chapman, Steve Earle, Gillan Welsh, The Jackson 5, Led Zepplin, The Be Good Tanjas, Smashing Pumpkins,Miles Davis. Tim Buckley,
Sounds Like: Warm and melodic like James Taylor or Don McLean, twisty and wistful and introspective like Joni Mitchell, melancholic and fingerpicky like Nick Drake, lilting and uplifting like Cat Stevens...erm why dont you just listen to the songs...
