Cuba

About Me

Cuba formed in April 2004. It all started around five years ago when Rory King returned to Barnsley from Manchester having attended Bee Hive Music College. Eager to get his hands dirty in a rock n roll band he joined forces with former guitarist Jon Nixon. Both being singer/songwriters, they quickly began plying their trade on the Barnsley music scene. Rory's older brother Nathan soon got out his ebonies and ivories and established himself as the weird scientist of the band, creating textures and soundscapes via his synths and moogs. Nathan has spent a lot of time over the years producing music using a typical bedroom studio set-up, and also attended Music College in Barnsley, where he learnt sound engineering, synthesisers, and producing live sets using audio and midi equipment. Bailey is the elder of the band and joined in October 2004. A talented individual who, as well as being classically trained on the electric organ, has spent over a decade on the live scene. Along with former drummer Carl Fearn, the lads began to build up a strong fan base with their fusion of indie/dance anthems. Due to creative differences and personal troubles, the band had a reshuffle, and in May 2008 Rory, Nathan and Bailey linked up with Boovy, a drummer with over 15 years experience on the live scene who has played in numerous bands over the years. He has also spent time as a sound engineer at various venues in Barnsley and Sheffield and ran The Hive Recording Studios in Barnsley. Over a few months, the guys locked themselves in the rehearsal room and began to write new songs as well as reworking some of the old favourites. They are now ready to launch the second wave of the Cuba Revolution upon the masses. Enjoy!!..
