The band OTHERS was born in early 2008 out of the ashes of the famous Czech band Zaha. When _Zaha lost its singer and frontman, it was clear to all that it was the definite end of the group, but for the OTHERS it was also an impetus to continue.
After playing together for so many years, celebrating many successes and weathering countless crises, Jáchym Basek, Mirek Linhart and Tomas Makovsky decided that it would be a shame to stop playing together. Taking advantage of their years of experience playing together, they embarked on further musical mischief, rehearsing and recording material influenced by soul-funk and guitar-based music.

At the beginning of January, 2008 the OTHERS gathered in the studio, where they recorded seven songs in the course of a few days. To capture the most raw energy possible they recorded all the instruments at one time, overdubbing only the vocals. By the end of February, their recording Gratis Hits was ready, a harbinger of things to come.
“I don’t know what the future holds, whether this music will interest anyone or not. The period since the break-up of Zaha has been very emotionally demanding for me, trying to figure out how to continue, if at all. OTHERS is my decision to go on, and I am very glad that the guys took my suggestion to keep playing. It’ll be hard to start again from scratch, but with musicians like these to work with, it would be a sin not to do anything.” –Jachym Basek
This spring, with Gratis Hits behind them, the OTHERS would like to start playing clubs while they prepare a new album containing mostly original songs for release in the summer or, at the latest, in the fall of 2008.
Skupina OTHERS vznikla na konci roku 2007 a jeji pocatek je uzce svazan s koncem kapely Zaha, coz byl a zaroven impuls k pokracovani tech co zbyli, tech „ostatnich - OTHERS“.
Spolecne prozite roky, korunovane mnohymi uspechy a lemovane nescetnými krizemi, byly duvodem ke vzniku nove skupiny a panove Jachym Basek, Mirek Linhart a Tomas Makovsky si take rekli, ze je skoda nevyuzit letite sehranosti k nejaké dalsi nekale hudebni cinnosti. Dali proto dohromady material, ovlivneny americkou soulovou a kytarovou hudbou, zacali brzy zkouset a pripravovat nahravani.
„Najednou jsme se ocitli osamoceni, neco skoncilo, Zaha nebyla a my se velmi rychle shodli, ze musime nejak pokracovat – hrat dal“. Na pocatku ledna 2008 se OTHERS schazeji ve studiu, kde behem nekolika malo dni spolecne zaznamenavaji cca 7 skladeb. Aby si pisnicky co nejvice zachovaly syrovost a energii, nahravaji se vsechny nastroje najednou, pozdeji se dotaci pouze zpev. Na konci ledna je hotova nahravka Gratis Hits, ktera ma prezentovat dalsi smerovani kapely.
„Nevim co bude dal, nevim jestli bude tahle muzika nekoho zajímat. Prozil jsem si od rozpadu Zahy velmi emocionalne vypjate obdobi, kdy jsem premyslel, jak pokracovat a jestli vubec. OTHERS jsou moji odpovedi, ze „pokracovat“ a jsem moc rad, ze kluci slyseli na muj navrh jit dal a hrat. Bude tezke zacinat od nuly, ale s takovymi muzikanty kolem sebe je hrich nic nedelat.“ Jachym Basek (zpev, baskytara)
Na jare, po dokoncení Gratis Hits, chteji OTHERS zacit hrat po klubech, zaroven skupina pripravuje dalsi skladby, ktere by meli spatrit svetlo sveta v lete, nejpozdeji vsak na podzim 2008.
