So i guess i will tell ya a little about me...
First thing to know, i love people. I love being around people. I love meeting people. I am so lucky to have such amazing friends, and i would do anything for them. As an entertainer and a personality i feel excited to make sure everyone's having fun! People often ask me, "Are you having fun?" My answer is pretty much always the same. "Trust! (insert smile here) If i'm not having fun, no one's having fun!"
Nothing gets me as excited as seeing other people smiling and enjoing life — out at the club or otherwise. A few years ago i had a close friend going through some very tough times, like we all do every now and again. I picked up one of those quotable cards at Outwrite, awesome local gay bookstore. It seemed like just the right thing!
It said, "for a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. but there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. at last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. this perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one." –Souza
It fell in love with the quote and bought two – one for my friend, one for someone else down the line. Life was crazy then, as it always is. I was really going through an uneasy time in my life, seemed like nothing could go my way. I spent all my time thinking, "oh.. things will be great as soon as i do/get X, Y, Z." Have you ever noticed that as soon after, you get "X, Y, Z" there is a new issue on the horizon!? It didn't take me long to realize that second card was for me! I decided to let change my perspective. Suddenly things really seemed easier. This crazy weight i had been carrying around was lifted off my shoulders.
Crazy ass shit will ALWAYS be happening – can't change that. I just try to remember, at the end of the day... if i have worked on the things that are driving me crazy and have done what i can to solve the problems... fucking relax. Don't forget to ENJOY life. When you have had a bad day and you wanna just go home and be by yourself, don't! Its just not healthy. Get around people. Your mind can be your own worst enemy.
I guess this is all a VERY long way to say — Don't forget to join the pary!
Life can get so dull. We all have the chance to be different. Question the Norm — Make your mark. Life is precious and full of choices. I choose to stand up and not give a shit what people think. Take a second to come out! Meet some new people, catch up with friends and celebrate life. Trust!
