About Me

Holzkopf vs Red Medicine from Jim Cuming on Vimeo .
=======================
"Red Medicine has officially become the loudest band I have ever seen...I had seen them once before, and I don’t think my ears have recovered since."
- Erik Arnold, BeatRoute

"[Red Medicine] is developing their vocal-less, bass-less aural assault (think Godspeed, but with the Stooges’, ahem, Raw Power)..."
- Ross Moroz, Vue Weekly

"For McGrath, and drummer Taylor Schaerer, punk rock doesn’t necessarily equate spiky hair and studded leather. It’s rather an understanding of "punk" as a state of mind, a rebellious and constant quest for change. Red Medicine create harsh, furious noise extravaganzas which have taken root in the members’ punk origins, and then evolve them into huge sonic build-ups closer to free-form jazz and experimental music."
- Francois Marchand, SEE Magazine

Red Medicine vs. Holzkopf - Live at the Velvet Underground (cassettes011)

Red Medicine vs. Holzkopf Vol. 2 - The Beat of a Dead Bird’s Wings (cassettes014)
Recorded at Edmonton’s inaugural Noise in the Park festival. Improvised sonic mayhem punk from Red Medicine, then joined by Saskatoon’s Holzkopf who provides samples straight from hell as they all call on the audience to throw condoms at the Pope. At times tribal, at times schizophrenic and unsettling, at times harsh and uncomprising, The Beat of a Dead Bird’s Wings is the latest installment in a long line of collaborative releases from two of Canada’s rising forces in noise.
Red Medicine - EP1 (cassettes003)
The first Red Medicine recording, when guitars were still in use by the band. Three improvised tracks ranging from post-rock influenced shoegaze to punishing, harsh noise. Originally limited to 62 editions, has since been re-released.
