The Soul Heavies ex.Soul Train Musicmachine osnovan je 1997. godine kao klupski band, unutar muzičkog kružoka koji se godinama razvijao svirajući i slušajući crni groove sedamdesetih godina. Od tog vremena u bendu su se mnoge stvari razvijale, a poneki od glazbenika ustupili su mjesto drugima, ostavljajući za sobom tragove svoje kreativnosti i stvarajući tako jedinstven senzibilitet zvuka. Proteklih godina band je kontinuirano održavao koncertne aktivnosti osebujne atmosfere utjelovljujući sponu klupskog programa prema stilskom izrazu američkih i europskih muzičara koji su imali največi utjecaj na ideju o identitetu benda.Istovremeno,baveći se vizijom autorskog materijala i ambicijom profesionalnih muzičara koji danas sačinjavaju njegovu postavu, band je artikulirao ideju egzotičnog otoka dobre glazbe i atmosfere, kako za slušatelje, tako i za profesionalne muzičare u bendu.Kroz dugo razdoblje opuštenog muzičkog i privatnog druženja band je akumulirao zreli potencijal znanja i inspiracije za pripremu originalnog materijala. Program koji sastav izvodi sastoji se od velikog broja američkih soul & funk standarda. Energični klupski nastupi specifičnog programa svoju atraktivnost nalaze u izmjenjenim i obrađenim aranžmanima pjesama, te ponekad i u otvorenoj formi. Karizmatični vokal Nikola Marjanović na sceni intuitivno komunicira sa muzičarima u bendu, čitajući materijal uvijek iznova na drugačiji način. Glazbenici koji danas sačnjavaju The Soul Heavies, na tradicionalan način pridodaju svoje znanje i osebujnost interpretacije u homogenost socijalnog konteksta, sinteze različitih glazbenih afiniteta, nove tehnologije i originalne jezgre glazbenog žanra. Trenutno,uz redovite nastupe, intenzivno radi na prvim pokusnim snimkama autorskog materijala. "Nestajem" i "Osjećaj je dobar" su prva dva singl-a koji najavljuju novi album u izdanju "Aquarius records". ENG: The Soul Heavies (ex.Soul Train Musicmachine) was founded in 1997 as a club band made up of musicians who have developed their skills through years of playing and listening to the black groove of the seventies. Since then the band has evolved and while some musicians are no longer members of the band, they have all left traces of their creativity, shaping the band and contributing to its unique sound. During the last ten years the band has performed in concert on a regular basis, always creating a distinctive atmosphere, blending club performances with the stylistic elements of American and European musicians who largely influenced the band’s identity. For years the band has articulated the idea of an exotic island full of good music and good vibes, both for its audience and for its own outstanding cast of musicians. Not burdened by the limitations of commercialization, throughout the years of laid-back music-making and friendship, the band has accumulated a wealth of experience, potential and inspiration for its original music. The band’s dynamic club performances are based on new arrangements of standard tunes, whose forms are often open for improvisation. Charismatic lead vocal Nikola Marjanović intuitively communicates with the band on stage, delivering a unique performance with each concert. The musicians that are part of The Soul Heavies today contribute to the distinctiveness of the band with their skill and creative interpretation, through a synthesis of diverse musical interests, new technologies and the original foundations of this musical genre. Influences: Muddy Waters, Albert King, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, James Brown, Maceo Parker, George Clinton, Tower of Power, Earth,Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Weather Report, Aretha Franklin and others. In addition to its regular performances, The Soul Heavies is currently working on the first recordings of its own original music.
