In 1997, the Mr. International Rubber contest was created to support the fledgling US gay men's rubber scene. Since that time the contest has seen steady growth to become a truly international event and contest weekend.
The annual Mr. International Rubber Contest and Rubber Blowout weekend draws attendees from across North America and Europe, with a growing presence from South America and Asia.
The weekend is packed with events for rubberists of all ages, including: opening ceremonies, greet the meat cocktail party, a vendors market, gear swap and closet sale, kink education seminars, brunch, closing ceremonies, a men's play party, and of course the main event, The Mr. International Rubber contest.
The competition is composed of several judged categories including private interview, wet rubber, rubber image, mystery bag, and on stage question. No previous titleholder experience is required to enter the contest although there are growing ranks of preliminary local, regional and national contest which send their winners to compete at MIR.
Contestants have come from America, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Canada and Australia.
