GENERAL

SKUNK is a band originally formed in Guatemala, Central America, in 2005. Now located in Helsinki, Finland with Finnish members and two of the original Guatemalan band members, the band is also adding culture influences to it. Skunk now becomes in a band that mixes two different cultures, a link between the Latin and Finnish culture united by music and blended in a modern, fast, powerful, aggressive and sinister metal. It mixes trash/metal influences with raw, positive energy.
Our lyrics are a mirror that reflects the reality of our daily life; we try to give the people a positive message through true words. All concept, music and words are created by the members of SKUNK.
Our work began a few months after we started when we recorded a 3 song demo in December 2005. In July of 2006 we recorded 7 songs. In November of that year we produced the EP "LIVING BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH" that includes the 3 old demo songs and the 7 new ones. More recently we recorded our first video for our new song "DIE WITH POWER". Also and interesting review in the metal magazine MIASMA was released in the latest issue 22 (www.miasma-mag.net)
SKUNK has performed in many cities and important festivals in the Guatemalan metal scene since it was founded, sharing stage with different Central American and American bands, Mare Tenebrarum (El Salvador), A Sangre Fria, (Costa Rica), Muerte por Muerte (Guatemala), Your Chance To Die (South Carolina, United States). In addition, in Finnish cities such as Turku, Tampere and Helsinki, sharing stage with The Bleedout, Cameron and Murdershock.
Working on new productions SKUNK is now in the studio again (but now in Nordic lands) recording 4 new songs to release a promo EP titled THE WAR OF ALL AGAINST ALL in spring 2008. Todo comenzó algunos años atras, aproximadamente unos 4 años, cuando Gonzalo "El chalo" tuvo la idea de armar una banda de Nu Metal, se conoció con Jorge Mario que era un musico no muy experto pero con muchos animos y pasion por tocar. Juntos desidieron empezar a tocar, Chalo en la Guitarra y Jorge Mario en la Bateria. Sin bajista y sin un vocalista busacaron a G un amigo de Jorge Mario que tocaba guitarra pero le gustaba mas el Bajo y se integró a la banda... ya estaban los musicos pero hacia falta un Vocalista.
Un amigo del colegio de Jorge Mario sabia cantar y estaba interesado en entrar a la banda. Ya juntos los 4 decidieron ensayar y ver que salia... Despues de un par de ensayos se dieron cuenta que si funcionaba y formaron un banda llamada HALLPAIN.
Mientras tanto en otra parte de Guate; unos amigos de El Chalo, Omar y su primo Erick estaban formando una banda, tambien de NuMetal, llamada REJECTED'S pero eran solo 3 los integrantes: guitarra, voz y bateria. Erick habló con El Chalo para que tocara bajo con ellos y con Allan, primo de su novia, para que tocara guitarra. Ya los 5 iniciaron los ensayos.
Un dia El Chalo inscribio a sus dos bandas en un concurso llamado ROCK URGENTE y las dos llegaron a la final dentro de la misma categoria. Un tiempo mas tarde el vocalista de Hallpain decidi? dejar la banda y por otro lado REJECTED'S llegaba a su fin...
En busca de vocalista El Chalo contacto a Omar para que cantara en Hallpain y se juntaron para ensayar. Todos querian seguir tocando NuMetal pero estaban en busca de un nuevo nombre. Un dia, toda la banda se reunio para ensayar y discutir el nuevo nombre, despues del ensayo se juntaron a platicar acompa?ados de unos cigarrillos, unos minutos despues surgio el nombre SKUNK!
Ya para Marzo del 2005 El Chalo se vio en la necesidad de dejar la banda. En busca de guitarrista Omar llam? al ex guitarrista de REJECTED'S: Allan, quien habia pasado como 1 a?o sin banda aprovechando el tiempo para incurcionar mas en el Metal y el Hardcore.
Los cuatro se juntaron para ensayar y decidieron cambiar de genero, tocar un poco mas rapido y agresivo. En ese primer ensayo escribieron INFECTED.
Buscando otro guitarrista se integr? a la banda Denise, una amiga de Allan que le guastaba el Metal; los 5 grabaron en Dic. '05 el demo UNDERLFE con canciones como Nothing y Skunk.
En enero de 2006 Denise abandona la banda y en Julio del mismo año Jroge Mario, G, Omar y Allan producen y graban el EP LIVING BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. Meses despues se une a la banda Marco (Rain).
El 12 de Febrero de 2007 Skunk deja su tierra viajando a Finlandia en busca de oportunidades no sin antes grabar un demo de su nueva produccion y su primer video DIE WITH POWER.
En abril de 2007 despues de estar solo unas cuantas semanas en el extranjero Gee y Jorge Mario deciden dejar la banda, ya que por motivos personales deciden regresar a Guatemala. Con toques pendinetes y sin una banda Omar (vocal) y Allan (guitarra) deciden no darse por vencidos y buscan nuevos miembros para cubrir las presentaciones pendientes en locaciones dentro de Finlandia como Helsinki, Turku y Tampere cuidades importantes a las cuales habian sido invitados. Pronto aparecen los indicados para el trabajo, Pole (bataka) y Jyri (bajo) se unen a la banda para cubrir estas presentaciones.
Con poco tiempo para ensayar y con nuevos miembros la banda trabajo duro para dar al publico la energia y agresion de siempre. Luego de termindas estas presentaciones la banda decide tomar un descanso de un par de meses en verano de 2007 retomando actividades en otoño. La alineacion de la banda es oficial ahora agregando a Olli (guitarra) y se convierte en una mezcla de culturas, un entrelace entre la cultura chapina y finlandesa. Ya con nuevas ideas y con muchos animos retoma los ensayos y enpieza a componer las nuevas producciones, con planes de entrar al estudio nuevamente pero ahora en tierras nordicas a principios de 2008.
Las letras hablan sobre factores del diario vivir del ser humano, experiencias que cualquier persona vive, lo que odia, lo que quiere, lo que siente en su etapa de vida, lo que lo fastidia, lo que lo estresa, lo que lo deprime... etc. Todas estas experiencias sobre una base musical inspirada en la creatividad, influencias y estilo único de cada uno de los integrantes conjugadas en una forma r?pida y que estridan en la cabeza de cualquiera que las oiga, con ritmos de hardcore, metal, nu metal, thrash y gritos de desesperaci?n, enojo, miedo, alivio se llama SKUNK.

Everything started in 2004 when two bands of NuMetal, HALLPAIN and REJECTED'S came to their end.
Chalo, who was a bassist in REJECTED'S and a guitar player in HALLPAIN contacted Omar, the lead singer of Rejected's, Jorge Mario, drummer of Hallpain and G the bass player of Hallpain and formed SKUNK. Together, they started to rehersal and to write songs as Skunk, La Manzana and After.
On March of 2005 Chalo leaves the band and Omar contacted Allan, who was a guitar player in Rejected's and he joins the band. Talking about what to play and the influences of each one, they start to write again with but with a wilder and faster sound. Looking for another guitar player Denise, a friend of Allan, joins the band and in Dec. '05 they recorded a 3 songs demo called UNDERLIFE.
In January of 2006 Denise leaves the band and they were 4 again. A few months after, in July of that year, the four members wrote and recorded the EP LIVING BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH that includes songs as INFECTED, OVERSATURATED and TO BE HAUNTED BY BURNT EYES.
In Sept. '06 Mark (Rain) joins the band and plays with them for the presentation of the EP on November.
The 12th of February 2007 the band leaves their contry searching for nu oportunities and moves to Finland, not before they record the nu demo of their nu production and film their first video DIE WITH POWER.
In april 2007 just a few weeks of being abroad Gee and Jorge Mario left the band because they had to return to Guatemala for personal reasons. With no band and gigs coming, Omar (vocals) and Allan (guitars) didn't give up on Skunk and decided to search for new members to pull off the upcoming shows in Helsinki, Turku and Tampere; important cities of Finland that they had been invited. The right musicians for the task appeared soon, Pole(drums) and Jyri(bass) joined the band for this presentations. With short time to practice and gigs coming the band worked hard to give the audience the energy and agression of always. After those presentations the band decided to take a short break in summer '07.
In fall '07 the band is practicing again with a lot of energy and new ideas, adding Olli(guitar) to the line-up Skunk now becomes in a band that mix two different cultures, a link between the latin and finnish culture. Working on new productions and planning to hit the studio again (but now in nordic lands) in early 2008 to record a 4-5 song promo EP.
