Making noise around the world for fun!
Upright and electric basses, guitars, vocals, keys, drums, kitchen sinks, buzzsaws...
"If you've spent any measurable amount of time in Seattle clubs, chances are good you've seen Jeff Wood play bass or keyboards. He's done time in more than a dozen bands, including the backing outfits for Marc Olsen, Gerald Collier, Carrie Akre, the Velvet Underground's Doug Yule, Orbiter, Duff McKagan's newer band the Gents, and Sanford Arms." (the Stranger). First stepping out during Seattle's heady days of the early 90s, a long string of bands and collaborations have followed ranging from avant punk-jazz to rock to alt-pop, indie-twang and every other point on the compass. Musical collaborators have been a diverse array of artists including members of Velvet Underground, Guns-n-Roses, Presidents of the United States of America, Gigolo Aunts, the Posies, Hammerbox, Mudhoney and many more; working with producers Slade and Kolderie (Radiohead, Morphine), Stuart Hallerman (Death Cab for Cutie, Soundgarden), Dave Sardy (Dandy Warhols, Nine Inch Nails), Conrad Uno (Mudhoney, Supersuckers, Young Fresh Fellows), Martin Feveyear (The Lashes, Kings of Leon) and Tucker Martine (John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Decemberists). Anchoring down the low end for years with Seattle favorites Sanford Arms and Ruston Mire and before making the leap to New York, Wood joined with fellow Sanford Arms alumni Harris Thurmond (also of Orbiter fame) and Rob Dent to form the band kingsley, whose debut record dropped in May 2005.
Since arriving in NYC he's worked with several bands, notably joining Brooklyn favorites Just About To Burn (featuring anti-folk icon Paleface) and double tasking as multi-instrumentalist and producer on their second album "A Different Story" which was released in Spring 2008 (now on Ramseur Records - home to the Avett Brothers). Wood is currently finishing a new record with Lenny Molotov (set for release in 2009) and has birthed the new blast ponk trio Tight White Jeans from straight outta the heart of Brooklyn.
~ Recording and gigging around NYC and as always, interested in interesting projects so drop me a line for studio, stage or road work. Need a complete rhythm section? Got it and ready to go.
