sorry, ma...i had to do it

About Me

i loathe being called nice (kind is much much better). i've moved around a lot. i think i'm fun to hang out with. i'll take advantage of any opportunity to bake. i'm kind of lazy. i make lopsided scarves and tell really long stories.

My Interests

i read, drink dark beer and black coffee, hang out, see a good show when i can afford it, travel, help others, sit in a dark theater absorbed in a really good film and just live.

Music:

dad's vinals(esp.beatles, allman bros, stevie ray vaughn, led zeppelin, pink floyd), old soul/motown (anything you'd hear in a movie set during the summer in the 60's), elliott smith, smashing pumpkins, radiohead, pretenders, the cure, replacements, mazzy star, the smiths, wilco, jeff buckley, pixies, nick drake, liz phair from a decade ago, decemberists, deathcab, air, i dig cat power, michael jackson, camera obscura, peter bjorn and john, iron & wine, certain pop songs that you can't get out of your head and a bunch of other random folks. it changes every day. go out and support your local musicians.

Movies:

resevoir dogs, the goonies, princess bride, secretary, donnie darko, the really bad (read fantastic) a&e version of pride and prejudice, dazed and confused, la confidential, strange brew (just because), empire strikes back, the usual suspects, indiana jones tril, and pretty much anything that's not too awful.

Television:

heroes and runway

Books:

too many to remember. the perks of being a wallflower, the story of o, anything by chuck palahniuk chaim potok or margaret atwood, night, the devil's arithmatic & maus represent my obsession with holocaust literature, my sad addiction to trashy romance novels that i've had since 5th grade is begging to be acknowledged, amazing adventures of kavalier and clay, the kushiel's series, animal farm, middlesex, stranger in a strange land, folk and fairy tales. i'll read anything (including shampoo bottle labels) except westerns and murder mysteries but even that is not a guarentee. i'm sure i'll add more.

Heroes:

anyone strong enough to risk themselves for what is right and just, those who speak out when everyone else (including me) is afraid to. "There are times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest it." - Elie Wiesel
