ANOTHER HARDCORE BAND THAT ENDED AS FAST AS IT STARTED!!!!!!!
A REVIEW BY KILLING LEGACY:Caused by extreme boredom at work, i’m forced to put up another post, haha. This one will be some sweet shit for all of you New York hardcore enthuastics out there. Five Minute Major was a heavy hardcore band from Astoria, NY and was started back in 1997. They have released a demo back in 2000, that appararently got really good feedback around the states and europe too. Inner Rage Records decided to put out their first and only full-lenght, When It Ends later in 2000. With heavy twist of crushing urban hardcore in vein of Sworn Enemy, One Second Thought and NYHC classic, Crown Of Thornz, Five Minute Major’s album is a stand out piece, that’s not known at all by the kids everywhere. Of course in here cold Finland we know how tro appreciate nice chugging guitars that’ll destroy everything on it’s way, alleyway gauntlet in full effect. As might you might have noticed from the name of the band, these guys were really into hockey and one track of When It Ends surprisingly covers a story from the hockey rink, In The Corner. Solid killer songs are also Nice Guy, Hindsight, Trust and Defiance, that finishes the records with power. There’s also two live versions as bonus tracks of songs In The Corner and Trust. I picked this cd up almost semi accidently while browsing second hand cd’s and it really was a gem to find, i have to say. When It Ends is stronf demonstration of heavy Queens -style hardcore, that bands like the mighty Irate, Everybody Gets Hurt and Billy Club Sandvich play. They also have one track on Scene Report -compilation, that was given free with orders some time ago at Goodlife and they might still have that comp in store, check it out there’s loads of good bands on it. Now enjoy some fine NYHC tunes with Five Minute Major busting out some quality hardcore.
Five Minute Major aren’t obviously around anymore, since they haven’t played a show for while and latest update on their (still up) homepage was back in 2001. I’m quite certain that Inner Rage isn’t totally defunct, they have website up, that’s also updated from time to time, but still very rarely. You can try out to order When It Ends straight from them, because it seems so that they should have it still in stock. I haven’t seen this cd either in record stores, hardcore distros or anywhere else and you could try also to check out Ebay or Amazon for a bargain deal. Anyways, was it from the label or anywhere else, please fucking buy it if you’re into it!
