Many clubbers and criticasters may think the beautiful country of Sweden is all about the Swedish House Mafia, but a young trance producer from Gothenburg named Carl B blows thatfact right out of the water. Already a successful and established producer in his own right, Carl B is unquestionably one of the new generations leading lights. Coming out of nowhere in 2005 with his pounding beatsand euphoric melodies, Carl has continued to put his signature sound to many huge tracks on an impressive resume of globally acclaimed labels.
Born as Carl Barrdahl in 1984 in a village just outside of Gothenburg (Sweden) which is still his current habitat, Carl Bdiscovered dance music in an early stage of his life. While growing up, Carl listened to and got influenced by music of synthesizer legends Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis, and was struck by theepicness of many film soundtracks. This without a doubt marked his future love for epic music and large arrangements and of course influenced his sound when he began producing music in a later stage of his life.Since then, Carl has been highly productive as a trance producer ever since.
His debut release “All Day” got signed to DJ Precision's imprint Somatic Sense in 2005, followed by releases like “Solitude” and “SocialSuicide” a year later on Somatic Sense and its sublabel Profuse. In 2007, Carl reached a personal milestone as he had his official DJ debut in Poland, with quality gigs to follow at amongst others The Galleryat Turnmills (UK), the Monday Bar Cruise in Sweden and on the Elements Of Life Release Party in Copenhagen (Denmark), where he was up to the task to warm up for Tiësto. It was in the same year that Carlsigned two of his trance gems to Fraction Records, a label owned and managed by Signalrunners.
The year 2008 proved to be a fortunate and exciting year for Carl, by releasing an excellent series of releases and landing solid record deals. Carl got signed to the biggestlabels such as Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance and Markus Schulz's imprint Coldharbour Recordings.
A co-production with German based producer Talla2XLC resulted in the collaboration release “Giving Up Giving In” on Talla's Tetsuo label.
It didn't take long before Carl got noticed by the undisputed emperor of trance Tiësto, who signed Carl to his company Black Hole Recordings to be a part of the In TranceWe Trust roster. His introduction to Tiësto's imprint resulted in the release of “Deliverance” featuring the characteristic vocals of the much in demand singer/songwriter Tiff Lacey. Its follow up“Just A Thought” earned a spot on Tiësto's In Search Of Sunrise Volume 7 and when Carl's “Life Can Wait” featured on the Elements Of Life DVD, he firmly secured his positionamongst his fellow roster members. Like a cherry on the trance cake, Carl also received huge recognition when he was being crowned as “Breakthrough DJ of 2008” by Tiësto, which gave him anultimate prove of artistic accomplishment.
His list of remixes is just as impressive as his discography. Superstar artists like a.o. Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Hiver & Hammer and Talla2XLC, andcompanies such as Armada Music, Ultra Records, Tetsuo and his home base Black Hole Recordings all received a piece of Carl's outstanding remix capabilities.
Continuing Carl's list of achievements, the year 2009 couldn't have started better for this Swedish youngster. Following the path of colleagues such asJohan Gielen, Cor Fijneman, Mark Norman, Phynn, Misja Helsloot and Ton T.B., Carl was approached to compile and mix Volume 13 of one of the most powerful compilation series in the scene, InTrance We Trust, scheduled for release in February 2009. Being a part of this prestigious CD series, Carl immediately entered the illustrious Hall Of Trance Fame and established Carl's reputation even more vastly.
The future is set to be massive for Carl with many more releases and remix work scheduled for 2009 and beyond.
