Hailing from the south suburbs of Chicago, IL, this Chicagoland native is no stranger to the sound of music. Rick The Maestro is what you can call a “Natural Born Producerâ€. With both of his parents along with several relatives being musicians, one can truly say that “music is in his bloodâ€, and after taking one listen to his incredible sound, it is very evident that he was born and bread to do music. Having been influenced by some of the greatest producers throughout his life, Rick The Maestro’s sound can be described as having the “gangsta†sound of Dr. Dre and The Legendary Traxster, the innovative “next level†sound of Timbaland, the down south “crunk†sound of Lil’ Jon and Mannie Fresh, and the infectious sound of a “flipped†sample like his counterpart, Kanye West. Growing up around the church, Rick The Maestro was always surrounded by music and couldn’t help but gain an early attraction to the sound. At an early age he began picking up the drumsticks and started drumming away at any chance he could get. At the same time, he learned how to play the clarinet and would soon learn how to play the saxophone, which he went on to play in FAMU’s “Marching 100†for three years. Learning how to read music and the overall concept of how it’s arranged was never a problem since his father was a professor at a local university teaching music theory/composition, and electronic music. At the age of fifteen, Rick The Maestro had become truly inspired by hip-hop/rap music and started writing his own rhymes to popular songs. There must have been a divine plan for him because soon after, his father brought home some of the equipment that he was using at the university. Naturally, his father showed him how to operate the equipment and from there, Rick The Maestro made his first beat and realized that he could create his own music to write his rhymes. One would say history was made, because it was at that point that he knew that this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, and being one of the best is definitely in his plans. After graduating from college, Rick The Maestro moved to Atlanta, GA to continue his journey of becoming one of the greatest producers of all time. Since he’s been in Atlanta, he’s had the great opportunity of working in Dallas Austin’s studio which has allowed him to work with several artists such a Lloyd, Da Backwudz, Don P of Trillville, Caz Clay, Latina of Blaque, and Tom Foolery of Charlie Mackenroe just to name a few. He’s currently working on his own artist, Wilburn, and has also been featured on various mix tapes as well as several independent projects with local artists from Atlanta and Chicago. This is just the beginning of this producer’s journey, but through hard work, dedication, staying focused, and the will to win, Rick The Maestro is destined to reach the top.
