I would really like to meet Scottie Pippen. I have heard so much about him since becoming a part of the UCA family. He is a six-time NBA champion and is recognized as one best all-around players of all time. I can't believe a great guy like that went to school at UCA.
Dee Brown is one of my most favorite authors! His best-selling novel Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee really made me think about American history. Did you know he went to UCA?
To think an alumnus of UCA, could become U.S. Department of Education Deputy Secretary?!? Well, Raymond Simon, a UCA alumnus, is current U.S. Department of Education Deputy Secretary. He received a bachelor's and master's degree in mathematics from UCA.
In 1957, Arkansas was the focus of the nation because of the Little Rock Nine. Will Counts, Jr., a UCA alumnus, covered the unrest of integration of Little Rock Central High. He was nominated for Pulitzer Prize in 1957. Although he didn't win the Pulitzer, he won numerous other awards.
I'd like to meet all the brilliant, intelligent students out there who want to "Be A Bear" too!
If you would like to learn about how to be a bear, go to http://groups.myspace.com/BeABear .
