Saphir aka Peter Eeckelaert started in late 80's with playing music. He and some friends formed the infamous "Modulations" and "Pillow". Basically those bands didn't last long, but musical interest grew along the years. He played the guitar and "sang" in loads of bands, such as ds-1., pillow, rtm and chilla's fate. While studying in Ghent, he met Fish, a dark friendly bastard who showed him some tricks and tips about making music. Another guy called Mr Beaucoup, played saphir some real fine classics from the dance scene which had a major impact on how saphir will make his music from now on. Early drum 'n bass artist such as urban shakedown, sacred, rufige kru, zinc and hype became common music to Saphir and the addiction for this experimental genre widened. Saphir started making some tunes and got warm appreciation from everywhere. That was the first step in Saphirs production and has spent time twisting his head around the software to create his own sound in his never ending training in production. Djing out came along after, and he has played at many venues around Belgian borders and beyond. Saphir likes to play dubwised plates with the combination of amenbased tracks. Saphir has played with dj's such as...System-d, Murdock, Lady Vortex, Brekbit, Bambu kru, Trish 'n Cash, Tinez, Padmo, Lamont, Battery kru, Boups kru, Kontrol [uk], Simon "Bassline" Smith [uk] Millennium kru, Tyson[nl] Dylan[uk], Loxy[uk], Keaton[uk], Ink[uk], Usual Suspects[uk], mc Killa kella[UK] and Teebee to name a few. Saphir debut live set consisiting only on his own work performed as a warmup for Vicious Circle[defcom, renegade hardware] & Hive [Violence, Metalheadz]. Nowadays Saphir has tickled the interest of some labels over the globe and are fully in progress to release some bits 'n bytes. First one was on the upcoming label complex beatz . The track Ashfall got written by Saphir and Zief (who remixed ashfall in the first place) ancronix (high evolvement metrik.) remixed the track in to a devastating smasher exclusively for the cx label. His style is a mixture of dark and melodic hard hitting breaks and deep basses. A trancy approach or a more mellow tune isn't a rarity though, expect some collaborations in the near future with some of the finest names. Recently saphir dug up a lost love for glitch/idm songs which he also produces at this time under the alias "typokat". Currently he is in the studio working on new tunes. New forthcoming tunes, on skimrok, perimimeter and complex beatz. more info as we get it.
