After almost a year of anticipation, comedy at Bougainvillea’s is finally back. Comedy Night at Bougainvillea’s was started by comedian Tim Golden in February 2005. Since its beginning, many of South Florida’s finest local stand-up talent have called Bougainvillea’s home.It started as a small group of comedians that performed every Sunday night (it has been changed to the last Monday of each month) for almost 2 1/2 years for crowds of 15 - 20 alcoholics. Over time the crowds grew, the alcoholism worsened, and the comics careers have taken off. Many of the original Bougain’s comics can be seen on Comedy Central, or at one of the local South Florida Improvs (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach). Additonally many of the comics have had opportunities to perform in the Las Vegas Comedy Festival, the South Beach Comedy festival, and the Boston Comedy Festival.We always found ourselves telling stories of those wonderful sundays filled with drunken hecklers, unappreciative audiences, and grandstanding crack addicts. We decided that we had a fever....and the only cure was more Bougainvillea’s.So there you have it, come get hammered with us for no reason at all, every other Monday.
