(Un)-PeeledNevada “Dan Lou†Myrie was born on April 4, 1983; he lived with his grandmother and uncles in Harbour View where he learned the true principles of life. Dan Lou’s love of music was encouraged and nurtured at an early age by his grandmother who loved to play her records on a regular basis; he grew up listening to such great artistes as Jamaican legend Bob Marley, the unforgettable Percy Sledge, Smokey Robinson and Earth Wind & Fire. However, it was also important for him to be given a foundational education. The young artiste attended Harbour View Primary, Windward Road All Age and graduated from Dunoon Technical High School with his accolades, which gave him a firm and conscious beginning towards his music career.Dan Lou was encouraged at an early age to pursue his love of music. In fact, he met Mark “Tanto Metro†Wolfe who encouraged him to believe in his abilities. Dan Lou remembers performing for Tanto Metro at the tender age of 13 long before leaving Windward Road All Age School. By 2000, at the age of seventeen (17), Dan Lou was performing in various arenas in the surrounding area i.e., Bull Bay, Harbour View and Rockfort. He was first dubbed Kid Banton, it was then changed to “Mr. Lou.â€By 2002, the artiste’s talent was recognized and he started to record at Quest Productions Studio in Bull Bay, St. Andrew; where he did a few mix tapes and demo. He met Paul “Patchy†Wright who told him that he wanted to record him on a riddim he was producing for Shocking Vibes Production. This did not happen until almost two years after. Dan Lou was heard by one of his role models, a veteran in the business Wayne “Devonte†Passley who had recently started his own production company in 2005, “Dimmie Joe Muzik.†Devonte saw a rare quality within Dan Lou and decided that he would be worth nurturing. Devonte is known to say that Dan Lou is humble, a real diamond in the rough, who is destined to make an impact in the music industry.†Devonte changed his name to the now unique “Dan Lou.â€Over the last three (3) years Dan Lou has since recorded several singles on the Dimmie Joe Muzik Label such as “Style and Paton,†(which was featured on “Caribbean Superstars†compilation with such artistes as Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Assassin and Anthony B), “Any Gal,†and “Off Wid di Chicken Head†to name a few. The artiste has performed both locally and overseas. He was the opening act for Tanto Metro and Devonte at Yellow Bash in Connecticut, Hype TV Up & Live and the East Law show.The young, but talented artiste is now promoting his most recent single “Mamma,†a song that tells about his struggles, what he has had to overcome to be where he is today and his mother’s unfailing belief that he will be successful.
