FERNANDO SARDOMUSICIAN , COMPOSER , LUTHIER AND SCULPTORFERNANDO SARDO researches on music and builds musical instruments – percussion and wire , from several cultures since 1984. Such interest appeared when he was still a studentnt at the College. He felt the need to improve his knowledge to other esthetics , different from the traditional ones traditionally learned at university . Living in São Paulo , he could have contact with several cultures and their music like the Japanese one, Arabian, Indian , African , European , Latin American and Indigenous ones , which have been inspiration for the many typical instruments made by him. Many music works also have been created as a result of this research and the “Ya Nur “group should be outlined for the integration between oriental and occidental music.The research stimulated integration between music and plastic arts as well with the consequent creation of musical instruments and sound sculptures built with native raw materials like “cabaçaâ€, bamboo, stones , wood and miscellaneous materials like metal, plastic ,glass ,rubber and other ones . About one hundred music instruments have been created until now. Other results from the research have been the didactic musical works , currently among his main professional activities.His music instruments and sculptures have been used in his musical works , his compositions , and his solo work “Bambuzais “, where just instruments and musical sculptures created by him are used .As an educator artist he performs music and luther workshops throughout Brazil . Children, teenagers, adults, artists, educators and art- educators attend the activities . The workshop is a way to stimulate creativity to built musical instruments using alternative raw materials . This feature makes the thecnique more feasible due to the low cost of material used .
