About Me

Many a rock drummer has been inspired by legend-worthy skinsman John Bonham to get behind the kit. Few come close to capturing his feel or possessing his raw talent. Even fewer go on to develop world-class chops to boot. One such rare musician is New Yorker Steve Salerno.
By the age of ten, Steve was knee-deep in the thick of his elementary musical education. Becoming even more serious about his craft, Salerno studied classical percussion techniques privately with seasoned Broadway circuit veteran Al Pollack. For his rock chops, Steve progressed to one-on-one instruction with acclaimed groovemaster Joe Nevolo . Already a force to be reckoned with by the age of twelve, Salerno often found himself sitting in with his much-older brother’s band. At age sixteen, Steve was already slugging it out in local bars and clubs with his first proper group. In 1983 Salerno joined all-original band Radar, featuring vocalist Pamela Moore (best known for her work on Queensryche’s landmark opus OPERATION: MINDCRIME). Radar spent years gigging, writing and recording tirelessly – leading to a worldwide album release with indie imprint Kivel Records. Andrew McNeice from Melodicrock.com had this to say about Radar's album RPM:
"This is a great lost gem of the era - female lead power AOR with lots of hooks, keyboards, guitar flurries and above all else, great melodies. Pamela knows how to sing and she is backed by a chorus of male harmony singers, adding texture and layers to each track. She can rock and she can croon, with a couple of great power ballads on offer. If you are a fan of American style FM rock / AOR and love female vocals, check this out. This is a class release"
.
2009 finds drummer Steve Salerno holding down the pocket for a top-notch, agency booked 5-piece band known as Green Machine. Green Machine performs well over 125 shows per year including club dates, corporate events, weddings and private events up and down the entire Northeast corridor playing regions such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont as well as the greater New York/New Jersey area and is currently booked through late 2009 by Greenlite Entertainment.
