NIELS BONKE IS A DANISH COMPOSER//SONGWRITER//MUSICIAN WITH CLASSICAL BACKGROUND. DRUMMER, PIANIST, MULTIINSTRUMENTALIST & PRODUCER.He began drumming at the age of 9, although his primary interest at that time was football
which he played after school for the local club, Skjold-Birkerod.
In those days, Niels would spend most of his spare time, especially on weekends, at the
home of his best friend, Peter, where they would play drums along with any other instruments they found around Peter..s house, including piano, vibraphone and percussion.At the age of 17, Niels became serious about music.
He joined a local teen band and started writing his own compositions. After high school, he
joined his first professional band, Polyphonia. Shortly thereafter they recorded several songs and began performing live concerts in Copenhagen, but split up in 1983.
During this time and through the mid-80..s, Niels started to study classical music and began playing the piano as well as percussion. At the same time, he continued to play in a local based cover-rock band called "Roomservice", which was named after a Marx brothers
movie. Later he joined forces with the russian, classical trained keyboarder, Andre..Andersen(Royal hunt), and formed the symphonic rock art, "Trace".
Trace played many concerts, including in 1986 when they played to an audience of over
50.000 people at radhuspladsen, Copenhagen.
By 1988, Trace changed their name to "Apart", released their only record, and played as a
supporting act to the Canadian super-group, "Saga".
Niels has been drummer in several Danish Progressive, symphonic rock and heavy metal bands from the beginning of the 1980s through the 1990s.
Soon after the supporting acts, he decided to take a short break away from performing and rethink the direction of his career.
In 1993, he started playing drums again in a heavy-rock group called "Zoltan".
Zoltan played a lot of concerts in Denmark and, during that period, Niels began to create
a serious drum-solo performance, which became an important part of the show.
By 1996 the Danish label, Nordic metal, released the album "Book of kings" which included
Niels..drum-solo "When trains become drums"(uploaded here in it..s full length).In 2001 Niels Bonke began work on his first solo album, produced by the composer Frederik Magle. The album titled "Beneath The Surface" was released through MisLabel in
2004.Niels Bonke is featured playing drums/percussion on the symphonic/progressive
rock single released in February 2008, "Polyphony" , by Frederik magle.

Niels Bonke started his own RECORDING STUDIO called, "ACTIONLAB MUSIC"!
Niels Bonke is a very productive multiinstrumentalist who is able to write music in every
genre. Since the studio took of in January 2008, he has written/recorded/produced more than 130 new compositions, both instrumental pieces for commercials, movies and tv and has written the lyrics and finished the recording &
production for the next 2 albums! He is at the moment looking for" the absolute "PRO" vocalist" with strong personality, who will fit into his style and world of
