About Me
July 4, 1977 marked the beginning of Pastor Jay D. Baker’s life. Born to Pastor J.D. and Essie Baker, he was blessed to have the word of God and fundamental values of the church instilled into his heart at a young age. It was not only in the home where he received these teachings, but also at his home church, St. Mary Christian Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Red Springs, NC under the tutelage of Bishop George McKoy.Straying from those teachings, Pastor Baker went through a number of cataclysmic events in his life including incarceration, and being forced out of the military, however; it was in an atmosphere of drugs, alcohol, and violence, that Pastor Baker was re-introduced to Christ. At the age of 22, he was a product of the streets, consumed with thoughts of murder and anger, but Proverbs 22:6 proves itself through him as it is written, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.†Pastor Baker is living proof that God’s word will achieve what it is set out to accomplish.
Refusing to accept limitations in God, Pastor Baker continued to pursue a deeper understanding of God’s word. Reaching out to the streets that once claimed him, it was his testimony, “if God can change me, surely, He can change you,†that began to change the lives of those held captive by the same dangerous lifestyle he once knew. Finally on January 13, 2001, Pastor Baker accepted God’s call into ministry. Although fairly new in his walk, God endowed him with profound wisdom and knowledge beyond what was expected of such a young man. The anointing bestowed in his life continues to elevate and mature him in the spirit.
In January of 2004, Pastor Baker received divine instruction from God to move his membership. Therefore he along with his wife, Prophetess Kimberly Baker, and two children Jamaria and Jaleal submitted to Daylight Tabernacle Ministries in Vass, NC under the tutelage of Evangelist Sheria Baker. During convocation in 2005, he was ordained for the office of a ruling elder. In July 2006, Pastor Baker accepted God’s call for him to lead His people. I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth (Acts 13:47). He then incorporated Rhema Covenant Fellowship Deliverance Ministries. In June of 2007, he was called back to Daylight and is now the senior pastor of Daylight Covenant Fellowship Deliverance Ministries, inc. Equipped with a vision, he focuses on “piercing the darkness, and illuminating the lives, without judgment, of people that have been broken down and hurt by church folk that have no genuine adamancy for the kingdom of God.†Pastor Baker continues to touch the lives of many: no matter how strained or fruitful their relationship with God may be. He is completely submissive to God’s will, and refuses to compromise his values and beliefs to fit society’s likings.Beside this man of God, stands Prophetess Kimberly Baker. Married for nearly 8 years, Pastor Baker is blessed to have a wife that shares his vision and compliments the gifts that God has bestowed in his life.Pastor Baker not only serves as sr. pastor of Daylight, but also currently holds the office of Vice President of Marketing for Miracle Insurance and Financial Group in Raleigh, NC. Completely humbled before God, Pastor Baker has proven his gifts which have made room for him, and continues to ensure that God receives all of the glory in his life.
“I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment.†–Proverbs 8:20
