About Me
CONNIE LEE PALOMO
DID YOU ENJOY THE SLIDE SHOW??? Then read on:
**Connie Palomo is into all the natural elements; water, earth (sand), fire, air and ether. Actual earth is a material that she often collects and utilises in her large painting/drawings. Her artwork reflects an eco-spiritualist direction with conservation of the natural environment something she has been passionate about since 1994 when she worked with the Australian Nature Conservation Agency in Canberra.
She has been told that she's TOO happy - a "super optimist" actually, but thats only because Connie has realised life is sooo precious and relatively short. She acknowledges the notion that we all make mistakes, yet we all have to take different paths in life and and learn - by necessity and experience generally.
A QUOTE from Connie Palomo (2008):
"I'm spiritual, but not religious...Because I believe that GOD is the Father of this Earth...To say that God is a particular faith or religion, is to make GOD less. We can learn from our wonderful differences and embrace cultural variances, whilst not living in jealousy of others".
Connie lives at a picturesque North Queensland beach location and has taught and practised her own environmentally based artwork for many years now...both privately and at University...More recently Connie has enjoyed making artwork that focuses on the spirituality of the subject(s) and the natural environment. As an arts therapist, she works with people across a wide spectrum; firstly those with disabilities, aged care (the elderly) and previously; drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Connie has also taught painting and drawing to members of the general community, tertiary students, as well as working with a whole spectrum of primary-high school students.Peace_of_Art aka (Connie Palomo) previously known as Connie Lawton and Connie Lee Dudley has held;

QUOTE from Connie Palomo (2006):
"I have been invited and judged a number of Art exhibitions - judging art is difficult because a dichotomy exists between those artists who believe in technique and technical aspects over subjective or conceptual aspects. Connie has judged in various places in Queensland, including; Cairns, Innisfail, Mt. Isa, Airlie Beach and Ayr. Connie has also had several watercolour and environmental art workshops for the public and local community.
Connie has worked and studied hard in the regional arts field and was awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship for a postgraduate university research degree; Master of Creative Arts (by research thesis, practice/ exhibition. Connie also holds an undergraduate Bachelor of Visual Arts with Honours. Her two Thesis' are in James Cook University's Library or "ship of knowledge". They are entitled "Invisibility and Visibility: Issues, Problems and Solutions for Regional Environmental Artists" and "Arterial Simulacra: Environmental Interpretations of Ross River".
Connie also loves travelling, and has enjoyed places like London, Scotland, Amsterdam, Paris, Singapore etc. Connie enjoyed staying in New Zealand in 2007-Visit some of her photos in the "NZ 2007 photo gallery"). Connie sees New Zealand as a truly beautiful natural place with amazing views. She went to Houston, Texas the previous year (2006) and hopes that Australia, (primarily through vegetation clearing and over-development) never truly becomes "little America".
Currently her work utilises mystical symbols/symbology, ancient eastern scripts/text, metaphorical poetry and all types of drawing and painting media. In the style of Rosalie Gascoigne, Connie has always enjoyed employing materials of a "found" or "recycled" nature. Currently, her practice of working on large pieces of heavy duty primed recycled cardboard paper with acrylic, pastel and naturally occurring ochres, sand etc., are materials she likes the "feel" of.
As well as having work shown in Perth (PICA) and Sydney (Graduating Student Show), Connie has also participated in North Queensland commissioned public art exhibitions, including; Eco Fiesta, Strand Ephemera and the Riverway Festival (all held in Townsville, North Queensland, Australia). Connie also has painting and drawing works in private collections in Texas,USA (God Bless the Singh and Padilla families-Connie says Thank you to both families). London, New Zealand (G'day Clinton Allen and Ashford Edwards) and here in Queensland and Melbourne,Victoria (Blessings to the Lawton family); Denny - you are an inspiration.
