About Me

MySpace Countdown Clocks
I like to blog. You should like to read.

Enough about that, here are the goods:
I hate traffic, unless it is on a sunny afternoon in Seattle, and then I tend to overlook it as I appreciate the city. I love the sound of Harleys, and and can't wait until I have my own someday (or a permanent seat on the back of one). I love laughing, and find joy in hearing other peoples' laughter. I think I might have the greatest friends in the world, because lets face it, I am difficult to put up with and if they are still around then they are some darn good people. I love longboarding down a hill with an an uphill slope at the end (I havent fgured out another way to stop besides running off the board, and that will get you in some trouble on a hill). I want to go back to school because I miss learning and listening to educated professionals talk about what they are passionate about.
There are tons of random facts about me, that really dont mean anything and don't define me as a person. One thing you do need to know about me is that I love Jesus and am saved by Grace. I look at my life and realize that I don't deserve anything in it, but for some reason I am continually seeing the good God is doing in my life. I am blessed beyond comprehension and am loved by a perfect God, therefore having a perfect heavenly Father-none of which I deserve. (And for the record: Just cuz I love Jesus, does not mean that I am perfect. I sin daily, and work on not doing that hourly)
I am Learning...
By: Jeanie Miley
I have tried giving myself to other gods – the gods of education and knowledge, success and money, accomplishment and work. I have given good works First Place in my affection. I have tried to get other people to be god for me; I have even let the church assume top priority in my time and energy. I have placed my neck in other worldly nooses and yokes, but only the yoke of Christ grants me freedom. Surrendering my will to His yoke is a constant process. As I continue to allow the presence of God to permeate the various parts of my life, I am understanding more clearly that anything or anyone, other than God, to whom I turn for meaning, purpose, or strength will ultimately disappoint me or destroy me. God affirmed the first commandment for my benefit; He knew I would never be whole as long as I worshiped anything or anyone besides Himself. I have tried to fill my life with other people, pleasure, work, and achievement, but these things only partially satisfy. I am learning that the God of Abraham, Joseph, and Isaac is indeed the Source of everything I need and that His intent is always for good.

My Interests

My biggest interest is Jesus. I can read about Him, talk to Him, love Him, and worship Him, but I continue to be in awe of Him and have so much to learn about Him, His love, and His grace. Other interests include (but are not limited to): snowboarding, long-boarding (on wheels not on water), knitting, and swing dancing (Lindy).

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting people who make me laugh....unless you are creepy, then I dont want you to make me laugh.

Movies:

Anything for girls. No action, violence, suspense or scary. Pretty Woman is top hands down. I absolutely love Julia Roberts and will watch most of her movies. Not the scary ones, please. Any chick flick I love I could name them but the list would go on for days.
Great non-chick flicks:
Fight Club: This movie is genius. It is absolutely, incredibly made.
Office Space: Who can deny this movie?
Superstar: Need I say more?
Rudy: I cry everytime.
Harry Potter: the books are better, but the movies are well made
Momento: love that the movie went backwards. Butterfly Affect: makes you think about how the decisions you make can change your future.
I dont like:
Dumb and Dumber
Jim Carey's early movies (The Mask, Ace Ventura, etc.)
The Pink Panther
Lord of The Rings (I walked out.....and I was not alone!)
The Piano, even though my mom loved it
Lonesome Dove/Dances With Wolves even though my Dad loves them

Books:

Like my mom, I read the end of a book first
Good Books:
Adult:
Memoirs of a Geisha
Educating Esme
Shopaholics Series
The Chosen
He Chose the Nails
When God Whispers in Your Ear
Authors:
Jennifer Weiner
Laurie Notaro
Candace Bushnell
Sophie Kinsella Max Lucado
Dr. Seus
Kids:
Sahara Special
The Giver
Harry Potter
Mrs. Frisbe and the Rats of NIMH
Where the Wild Things Are: this is probably one of the best illustrated children's books (non-chapter) I have ever read. The illustrations are done where it follows the story leading up to a climax in the middle and then going back down to the conclusion. Pick up the book and just flip through it. It is incredible.
Oh, The places You'll Go. So inspiring.
There are soo many. I love to read- I guess that is why I was a Reading minor in college.
Books I hate:
Unfortunate Events books (when I have my own classroom-when I go back to teaching-I will not have those books in my personal library. They are horrible),
If You give A Mouse a Cookie
40 Days of Purpose
The Left Behind Series
I Kissed Dating Goodbye
Books I am currently reading:
They thought I would be prettier
Fight Like a Girl I love everyboday and other atrocious lies
