I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a writer. I write horror and fantasy, usually with the assistance of at least one cat who is convinced that lying across the notebook while I'm trying to write is much more helpful than it really is. If you're a fan of the Call of Cthulhu RPG, then you might have read some of my work in Cthulhu Invictus.

I write all my first drafts longhand in a spiral notebook with a fountain pen. I have five pens now, three of them as a result of getting short stories accepted by magazines. My husband promised to buy me a fountain pen every time that happens. He made the offer the beginning of 2008 to encourage me not only to write more stories, but to submit them to magazines (the hard part). I don't think he expected to have to buy me any pens so soon, though. His tough luck, that. :-)

I also dabble in 3D graphic art, using programs like Carrara, Hexagon, Photoshop, and (less often now) Poser 5. You can see some of my artwork on my website, RejectedReality . In addition to winning a couple of contests, I wrote the Poser chapter for the Carrara 5 Pro Handbook published by Charles River Media.

And, yes, I have cats. Four of my own, plus I foster cats for a local animal rescue organization. It's one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Neil Gaiman. But not until I'm much more successful as a writer.

In a "you can meet anyone, living or dead" scenario, I'd also like to meet Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. But that ain't gonna happen, either.

In a more realistic scenario, I wouldn't mind meeting an artist to collaborate with on a graphic novel. Always wanted to do one of those, but I don't draw nearly as well as I write, and CG takes far too long to do a full comic with. Well, unless you have an app specifically designed for that, which I don't.

My Blog

Personally, I'd want to be warned about zombies

I have concerns about the city of Austin, TX. Grave concerns. (Grave... heh, heh.)Concerns that officials there aren't taking zombies seriously enough. Or perhaps they're in league with them. Or ma...

The Importance of Planning, Part II

Yesterday was our last day of vacation, and yet another reminder of the importance of planning. We decided to go to Cooleemee, NC, which was a company mill town in the first half of the 20th century. ...
