DJ NEWK Q100 ATLANTA

THANKS GIRLIE! I'm not good at this stuff so...I'll do it eventually!!!As written by the beautiful Tangela "Tangie" Oysiku: Understand that this is the history before the Club Vision encounter so lets start with the first encounter article concerning DJ NEWK shall we?? Good!This is one reporter's experience with what I call "the RIGHT way to dance the night away!" Although it says "DJ" along with his signature, NEWK does far more than JUST DJ. He likes to have what he calls "AURAL SEX" with his audience as he is a lover of all kinds of music genres (imagine how I reacted at THAT comment until he SPELLED it out for me).I then understood his point as he exuded this love by stroking his crowds with perfect precision of a jet pilot taking off from a runway,entering into the highest altitudes of climaxing energy with his sets and finally gently bringing you back down to earth where you feel safe (again the jet plane comes to mind as he is landing ever so sweetly with a crowd of over 2,000). All of this energy still surges within me as he brought us all back down without the abruptness that a lot of audiences are used to. You know, when the music and the crowd are going nuts and out of nowhere the lights just come on, and this annoying voice just basically says "good bye and get the hell out" leaving a ghastly taste in your mouth as you think, "what in the hell is that about? That was my song!" Fortunately this didn't happen on the island this night and I found myself noticing a lot of patrons singing and whistling songs that DJ NEWK implanted into their brains which in a sense kept the party going although it was over- until the next night anyway.This was my experience day one of three nights he rocked the island of Bermuda with everything from House and Disco classics to Reggaeton, to AC/DC, Jay Z, Mashups and Old School Hip Hop and R&B without missing a beat. This time, the second night is when I had to introduce myself at the end of the night when he got a chance to talk to me after almost being mobbed as his assistants were giving out free CD's of the previous night's sets. I was able to catch up with him and find out another shocker: He's from Chicago and living in Atlanta Georgia! I used to live in Atl and I still am in both cities every now and then for work so this was going great! Upon meeting him I noticed that he is very very intelligent and a DJ without an attitude! Just the most humble and down to earth man I've met in a while... a LONG while. I explained that I was a freelance writer for several publications and although I was in Bermuda on business, I was basically at this event to check out the DJ they simply billed as "one of America's most renowned DJ's to the celebrities" all week on the local radio programs as well as the flyers all over the island. I'm kinda homesick and wanna hear some USA flavor since I'm gonna be here for almost 6 months. Seems that one of his buddy's we all know here on the Island as Olu (if you don't know him and his brother from the group Soul II Soul here on the island you're under a rock) was the promoter so it was going to be another hot event not to mention the private afterparty Olu had at his mansion that NEWK performed at as well (seems he was staying at Olu's house for the duration anyway, of course and he was nice enough to envite my friends and I).Now this after- party was sick as I saw the most amazing thing. THIS night DJ NEWK is spinning with two large screens that I think were sheets since they were so huge on both sides of the pool playing with MUSIC VIDEO'S! Everyone was going bananas during one set in particular as he let the crowd basically see him spinning back the videos in reverse and scratching,etc with the videos...again totally sick! I've never had such a time on this island and never do until he comes back periodically and its the same high EVERY TIME! I could go on about the "AURAL SEX" he gives me each time I get a CD in the mail from his different sets and find myself being a total scrooge when it comes to letting others get their hands on my mixtapes when they want to "borrow" them. I've definately been "NEWKED" and he's always going to be appreciated by the real music lovers in any event he rocks! Thanks again NEWK for allowing us to dance the night away!FAST FWD: short FYI note to friends in Bermuda/UK that were @ the Island partyNOW I'm in Atlanta Georgia coming in from NY on assignment and what do you know? I hear a radio commercial with DJ NEWK running all evening on Fri and I'm familiar with the club Vision by this time because he would send me CD's from his sets there AND as y'all know I've lived here but the club had closed for a revamp. I couldn't remember how to get there so of course I called DJ NEWK to tell him I heard the commercial,blah,blah,blah and he put me and my colleague on the guest list for the night. I have to say the same thing he did in Bermuda is what he had those folks (and me) doing in that sexy room of his... He went all over the place with the 80's stuff I missed and the newer stuff as well. He ended up leaving the Red Room at midnight to go to the main room and had that whole place bananas (although I wanted him to stay in the Red Room because we couldn't get to him in the other DJ booth like I was (barely) able to get through security to say hi to him in the Red Room. Oh my God I meant to tell you that Denzel Washington was in the VIP with us and it seems that he comes thru a lot so I see Vision still has the celebs on lock. It was all good and again my boy came through and I was soooo happy to see that he gives good "AURAL SEX" at his club in Atlanta too (remember that?)!! I'll be back in NY and I'm sending you guys some mail so be looking for some mixtape CD's with your names on em! :)T.O. (the SEXY T.O.)
