Erica Olmstead cried for two hours straight the first time she tried to force her garden-gnome hands into an F chord at age 13. She proceeded to cry a lot more throughout that year, about things other than F chords, earning her the nickname "the crier." By age 16, she had stopped crying so much, and got her first guitar, an Alvarez. At the first open mic she played, she sang "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen and ran crying from the room mid-verse.
At 18, Erica went to college with visions of being a local acoustic star. She would take local open mic nights by storm, and inspire the world. Sadly, she could not muster the courage to leave her dorm room and perform and instead watched Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire ten thousand times. One fateful March night, Erica took that stage and conquered her courage to perform an encore cover of BBmak's "Back Here." Emboldened, Erica decided to buy a cheap Best Buy microphone and attempt to record herself in her bedroom.
And this is what happened.
