About Me

I came to Nashville in 1977 to write songs and I never left! I’ve been a staff writer at several publishing companies in that time, including but not limited to MCA Music and HoriPro Entertainment and I’ve had single song contracts at many, many more. I’ve seen people come and go, some of the ones you would swear couldn’t miss, did, and some of the ones you thought would never amount to anything ended up on top. And a whole lot more just faded away. And then there are those of us who accidentally...stayed. I’ve had cuts by people you’ve never heard of and some you have. My biggest claim to fame is the song, "If I Know Me", written with Dean Dillon, which George Strait recorded and took to 1 for 2 weeks. George Strait also recorded a song of ours, "Holding My Own", which was the title cut of a cd, but never a single. I have a song written with the great Jon "She’s In Love With the Boy" Ims called "I Don’t Love You And I Always Will", which ended up on the Kerrville 25th Anniversary album. A song I wrote with Karen Taylor-Good and Ruth Hummel called "The OBGY Me Blues" was recorded by Saffire-The Uppity Blueswomen and is an underground hit at gynecologists’ offices nationally. Well, two anyway... My songs have been recorded by Rich McCready, Dean Dillon, Angela Kaset, Doug Stone and others. I play guitar just well enough to accompany myself and not one bit better. I always say that the capo is my main instrument and that’s kind of true. I can play anything...as long as it’s in G. By the way, my headline "Dragged kicking and screaming" is very accurate. I’m totally right-brained and I feel like the last myspace holdout. Finally, I gave in because I had to register so that I could see a picture Debi Champion had on HER website of her, me and another writer. So NOW I’ve gone and done it... I still write and play writers’ nights around town and I love being out there meeting the "new kids". So if you like what you hear on here, please come out and see me or get in touch with me and say hello.
