About Me

My name is Eliane Correa and I'm a maybe-Cuban maybe-Argentinian officially Spanish but Luxembourg grown wannabe musician... I was classically trained on piano since the age of 3 until I had to stop playing almost completely in 2004 because of a chronic tendinitis on my right wrist. Since then I've been focusing on songwriting, composing, arranging and learning bits of different instruments (congas, bata, balafon, kora...), and most of all, learning about Cuban and West African styles of music at the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, Cuba, and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London where I am currently studying.I've been singing for as long as I can remember, taken vocal technique lessons but decided to stop because I started sounding too mainstream to my taste. Which means I'm not really a singer after all (there are so many amazingly talented female singers out there, I'd rather let one of them do the job better than me! I'm more of a creator than a performer)...Right now I only have recorded drafts and other mediocre quality things, but by this summer I should have a proper demo up!Peace. Eliane

Sounds Like: Cuban rhythms, a good dose of funky, laid-back soul, some West African influences and sometimes a remotely jamaican touch, all on top of a big fat bass line.
