Thanks for visiting the official Myspace page for Falling Cloud Films and Director/Cinematographer Jeff Mahon.
Jeff started his filmmaking career in the mid 70's with a Brownie 8mm movie camera and a couple of rolls of film. True to independent filmmaking, Jeff used unpaid volunteers in the form of fellow neighborhood kids who's only reward was seeing themselves up on the little big screen. To pay for his film and processing, he charged these kids to watch themselves, which taught him a valuable lesson about vanity and filmmaking.
Throughout these years, coupled with the lack of proper editing and sound equipment, Jeff honed his skills of storytelling with a 1:1 shooting ratio.
Upon graduating high school, Jeff joined the US ARMY as a video production specialist. This is where he received his formal education and a very valuable one at that. He was part a SOCOM camera team attached to various Special Forces teams around the globe. Jeff earned the Army's Commendation Award for his work on SINE PARI, an hour long documentary on U.S. Special Operation Forces. He received his second Army Commendation Medal for his skills as a cinematographer.
Jeff returned to civilian life and went home to Maui where he immediately found work with local production houses becoming one of Hawaii's most sought after cinematographers.
Hawaii's high cost of living forced Jeff to relocate to Las Vegas where he transitioned into independent filmmaking. He worked as Director of Photography for RobinHoodFilms' production THE CASINO JOB and also worked as Second Unit Camera for legendary cult filmmaker Ted V. Mikels. He also worked closely with Las Vegas's most sought after commercial producton company 702Productions.
In 2006, he took possession of family property and moved to Indiana where he currently resides. In 2008, he started Falling Cloud Pictures.
Falling Cloud Films' new production "HELLHOUND" is currently in development..check back for updates!
