Jeff and Christy Howard are a husband-wife singer-songwriter team who are well known to the Blues communities of Detroit, Michigan and southwestern Ontario, Canada. They were finalists in 2005, and won the 2006 Motor City Blues challenge (acoustic solo/duo division). They represented Detroit in the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Jeff was formerly lead guitarist for the late Butler Twins, legends of Detroit blues, who had two hit blues albums in England during the mid-1990s and won a Detroit Music Award in 2000. Christy's vocal style is soulful yet mellow, smoky and sultry yet melodic and soothing. Her country roots in Tennessee come out when she sings, giving her a distinctive sound and a down-to-earth persona. Christy and Jeff's music is a unique blend of Country, Rock and Blues, showcased on Christy's self-released debut CD called PARTY GIRL. The CD includes a venerable group of Detroit musicians (Tim Sparling, Jeremy Kittel, Kenny Parker, Martin Gross), and contains nine original compositions that range in style from Southern-Rock to Country and Country-Blues. Live, Jeff and Christy also perform Chicago Style-Blues and Blues-Rock, including original Blues compositions found on their latest (acoustic) CD called DEEP IN BLUES COUNTRY.
